I just got my Alpha pep66 HSF from millisec. I orderd it with the delta 38cfm fan. There are no markings anyware on the fan nor stickers that say delta. How can I tell if it is the delta fan that I orderd?

hook it up, and check the RPM in bios or mobo monitor or similar app... if it's ~7000 rpm and is whining like crazy, then you got the right one!

Well, I have lived to tell the tail of the great destructive power of the Delta (Black label) fan. I was tinkering with my computer one day and I was cleaning off some of the dust off my fan on my heatsink that was still hooked up. Well, come 2:30(automatic turn on that I set), and my computer automatically turned on! It cut so deeply into my finger than I thought the piece of crap was going to come off. Another thing, I had to fan and overclocked a lot, but the noise to performance ratio was too small for me. I can barely type let alone think with that fan humming at me. the Delta fan is like the only loud fan I had so I couldn't imagine living with a 120 mm in there or anything else.

be sure to check the specs on your mobo, some fan headers will NOT live long with the beast plugged into them. may want to get the 3 pin to 4 pin adapter.

yes, I have one, loud but very cool

Yep, they are all right, even if you do have a fan that should be able to cover up the noise, the high pitched sound cant be covered up

I hate the high pitched whine from that fan plus it's very loud. It was louder than the 92mm fan that I had in my case for awhile. The extra cooling power of the fan is just not worth the small cooling gain that you get.

osage,
How do we know our mobo fan connector is safe to use a 3 pin delta fan ? Is it safe to use a delta fan by using 3 pin ?

I finally got rid of my PEP66 for a TaiSol CGK742. It doesn't cool worth crap, but I can't hear it over my other fan noise My case is really silent, and its stable. That's all that matters to me.

heh, I plugged a normal FOP32 into my ASUS P5A, and now: no more fan headers :-(

no warrenty, or anything, so I just had to strip the wires and patch em to the power supply. works like a charm!

btw, I recommend if at all possible to get a good 80 mm fan to put on, just so that you can get that high CFM rate without the extreme noise. I have an AC 120 mm fan that blows like mad (it's pretty thick) but only adds a bit to the overall noise of the computer. the fan on my FOP32 adds more sound then that 120mm fan.

My Delta is extremely loud. Right now its in a seperate room than my bed, thats the only way I can sleep with this thing. Next year when I go off to college Ill definantly have to switch this thing out with something quieter.

Huh??? Why did you get rid of the PEP66. I have a quiet 26 cfm Sunon fan on mine (came with it). Cools VERY well and no irritating fan noise. (I use Arctic Silver thermal paste though.)

Or if you don't want to spend the extra dough on a new fan, you can splice the wires to underclock the fan.

I plugged my Delta in my fan header, and something was blocking the fan from turning once when I was working on it, no more fan header...
