Intel's got some smart cookies running the sales/marketing group. But AMD will win the price/performance of a Phenom versus anything that isn't Q6600 ATM.

You forgot the Q9300 and Q6700, both are available for about $280 retail. They're about 15 - 20% faster than a Phenom 9850BE, which makes them roughly equal in price/performance.

Oh. The guy who did say that (abinstein) knows a lot, but unfortunately his knowledge appears to have holes large enough to drive trucks through, so he ends up drawing some really bad conclusions. I wonder what his background is that he'd know what he does know.

The guy he fights with ("juliez") seems to have smaller knowledge holes, but doesn't get everything right. He's also more inflamatory than helpful though.

edit: Jeez, in these whole threads nobody realizes that C2's load-store unit can reorder more operations than Barcelona? That's a pretty big lever when it comes to performance!

But K10 has can do two L1 reads in a cycle, so the queue can be cleared faster than a C2D.
