What a debate: Biden can't remember basic statistics and says 150 million have died from guns + moderators called him "Senator" (probably to mock him for saying he was running for the Senate the day before) + hilarious pandering to blacks b/c he's in SC, Bloomberg admits he bought 20 candidates who won in 2018, Bernie still defends Castro and gets booed, Warren forgets that she's for late term abortion by accusing bloomberg of telling his baby mama's to "kill it" and quoting bible verses, and the rest are just idiots.

CBS lets them talk over each other (why not just have buzzers like in Jeopardy?!) and $2500 for tickets for the audience (lots of commoners in that audience). Total shitshow. As someone said today: "I don't even know what a Democrat stands for anymore"

We sure know what Trump stands for, himself. The most narcissistic dumb-fuck to ever enter US politics, he is good at harvesting and stirring up hatred though, yea! team hate!. Oh, wait, trump blamed the debates for the stock market crash, somehow forgetting the market had crashed TWO THOUSAND POINTS in the 2 days prior to the debate. THIS IS YOUR HERO, do you own a mirror?.

I don't support Biden. I support your worst nightmare, Bernie, at this time.

He's Trump.
And Trump got elected so clearly those things don't matter.
Fair. I just think they matter more to Dems than Republicans. Turn out for Bernie is either going to be really really good or really really bad, I suspect. I guess, perhaps, maybe turning on the young Bernie Bro vote may offset turning off some of the centrist Dem/independent vote.

The GOP wants Bernie, bad.

Hasn't been truly vetted. Hasn't accomplished anything of note in his entire senate career. Calls himself a socialist.

Apparently he's doing well against Trump.

So pick a winner or a loser and for now that's Bernie against Trump. The usefulness of Bernie is that he's not a self interested prick and the bully pulpit may get the mainstream Dems moving in a direction that is more beneficial to the mainstream that it might otherwise be.

I'm not saying you have to support Bernie as I'm not a crazy "bro", but mine is a calculated choice based on what I consider to be a post-republic USA. IMO based on what I see Bernie can win. Others? Maybe.

Oh I'll absolutely vote for Bernie in the general, I just think he's going to get crushed by Trump, unfortunately.

I'm having a hard time seeing how Bernie gets the EC votes he needs. Florida seems unlikely giving his Castro comments and Wisconsin has been trending Trump.

The hope is that a large number of those centrist Dem/independent voters will show up to vote against Trump even if they don't want to vote for Sanders. 'Anyone but Trump' is going to be an important part of the Democratic campaign. The real question here is going to be if we have a 3rd party spoiler that will draw significant votes from the Democrats. But honestly I don't foresee there being a 3rd party candidate that would appeal to moderates that are wary of Bernie. If anything I think this year 3rd parties are more likely to steal votes from Trump as some of his previous base will feel disillusioned with him be and wanting to cast a 'protest' vote, but will not vote for a Democrat.

On record praising Castro, the USSR, not to mention his self-described honeymoon tour of Moscow...

Policy wise he wants to nationalize the electrical generation grid, plus effectively nationalize healthcare delivery...

No wonder the gop is having wet dreams over his nomination. So many easy layups.

Also don't forget his policies (eg fracking and nuclear power bans, attacking pharma) that Will heavily target key industries in PA (a state Trump won last time, and is must win for wh.)

I don't see how he doesn't run away with the nomination, but also can't see how he's actually getting to 270.

He's doing better than any of the other candidates in head to head matchups against Trump. Saying he cant beat Trump isnt saying anything other than what we already know, which is beating incumbent presidents is hard, that's not unique to Sanders as a challenger.

If anything if the party elites get what they want and nominate Bloomberg in a contest convention, its showing likely a drubbing we haven't seen since Reagan beat Mondale.

Ironically enough some pundits like Chris Matthews are already saying the quiet part out loud and wondering if maybe it's better if the democratic establishment stop Bernie even if it causes the Dems to lose the general election because maybe 4 more years of Trump isnt so bad.

I happen to agree, if Sanders goes in with the majority of delegates, but not the threshold to win and someone else comes out with the nomination, I think that's like handing Trump a layup.

I do have one question. What is your comparison? When was the last time a presidential candidate projected competence, vision, someone who you can point to and say, "this person makes me proud to be an American?

Obama for sure.

Well, I got off the pot, and filled in my primary ballot. Probably walk down to the ballot drop off box at the elementary school down the road this afternoon.

Warren.

I didn't get to see it but based on the comments candidates were

crazy
scattershot
annoying
bad format (CBS)
