She mentioned a middle class tax cut. The speech is long already, and I don't think this is an appropriate place for a detailed policy explanation
I'll believe that when I see it. More tax credits for low income earners and for people to have kids, perhaps. But an across the board tax cut for the middle class??? Not gonna happen.

It's gonna be Beyonce

What do you mean, she's going to be the surprise guest tonight at the DNC for Kamala

Ok lets all guess who the surprise guest is..

I'll say W. since it matches the theme of the right wing night!

Edit: Ok Cooper says he's last GUY before what we've been waiting for..

Maybe Taylor.

Who could it be then? They have to be an artist, they're doing the Kamala introduction video so it has to be someone singing a song as she comes the stage? I mean I have no idea otherwise

Zendaya??

Now it has to be someone performing right after her speech
Those posts were around three hours ago and still ..... ?????

And, she deleted it only after she found out Walz kid is special needs/neurodivergent. Fortunately, the internet is forever asshole.

Now ... Ann Coulter sez it’s Democrats’ fault she insulted Tim Walz’s son.

Here is another fine Republican. Wondering why Walz kid wasn't aborted.

And the Federalist attacking Walz for not being able to father a child. Only the BEST people in the Republican party these days.

Kamala’s dad is already a very sought after man, I am afeared! He was conspicuous by his absence so I read a little about him.

Deplorable’s screw this up so frequently, it’s so simple to fix too. Apologize, admit your mistake and own it. This is what normal people do. The fact that she did it isn’t all that bad once a legit apology is made.
She deleted the post, acts like it didn’t happen and then ultimately blames Democrats for not informing her. That’s a shitty weird way of handling the problem. She accepted zero responsibility for her own words.

I have to say, that may have been the most well-run/managed/produced conventions I've seen, especially in the face of what the country is up against (The total disaster that is Trump). The smartest things she did was keep the focus on the country and dealing with its concerns, and not on the historic nature of her election. She kept her focus on being a President for the American people – not for her. Obviously she understands what an amazing thing it will be to be the first woman elected to the office of President, but she demonstrated it is not her priority. We the People are. Harris herself emphasizing not her Black identity or even her identity as a woman, but her middle class roots raised by her five foot brown immigrant mother, was on point. She drew a contrast between her and Trump and made a clear distinction between her fighting for the people and him fighting for himself.

Add in a relentless optimism. The convention would only just touch on Trump and the total disaster he represents but would never dwell on it. They acknowledged he’s a huge threat and then moved on. The whole thing was upbeat and positive.

Kinzinger was very good. He spoke longer and hit Trump harder than the other Republican speakers. A good job pointing out that Trump does not represent the Conservative movement and that even if you disagree with Democratic policies you can still see the need to vote for democracy itself. And his "Democrats are just as patriotic as we are" was on point.

This has been upbeat political theatre. Uplifting. Encouraging. I’d feel even better if 74,223,975 hadn’t voted for Trump in 2020.

I do expect both Beyoncé and Swift will do a Harris event.

Well nothing at all would certainly be better than the middle class tax hike Trump gave us in 2017.

Good. We shouldn’t be cutting taxes in the face of massive deficits and dwindling services. We should be taxing the holy hell out of the rich and holding steady on the middle class.

Trump tax cuts are set to expire next year, including the SALT cap which raised my taxes a fuck ton here in Pennsylvania. Letting those expire and placing another bracket for 1m+ is what we need

We should also be taxing unrealized capital gains when they get used as collateral for loans that ultra-rich people like to use to finance their lifestyles. If you can use the value of a stock for a loan, then it should be considered a realized gain. (And if you're worried about this hitting people seeking to use the value of their home to secure a loan, we can add an modest exemption limit per person)

It's not just that. Even if the Trump tax cuts were permanent they still represent a significant long term tax increase for anyone who makes their money through wages, meaning the middle class. As part of that law it permanently adjusted down the inflation calculation that's used to determine income tax brackets, meaning each and every year for the rest of our lives we will pay more and more in income taxes.

I will give them credit for being sneaky in finding a way to enact a massive tax increase on middle class families in a way where most people don't realize it ever happened.

I stayed up for the entire thing, I wouldn't have been able to sleep anyway as my wife wasn't turning it off! I waited patiently for Kamala's speech. It was very good, except it started to get long after 5 minutes. I went and brushed my teeth and got ready for bed while listening to it. I think she belabored the details too much for an acceptance speech, she didn't need to convince anyone there or watching of her policies.

Overall I find the newfound energy very positive. Still hard to believe Joe did the right thing for the country, I honestly can't see her losing unless some huge scandal presents itself before election day.

By modern acceptance speeches hers was pretty short at 35 minutes I think. Trump went on for well over an hour at the RNC last month.

My grandfather and grandmother were political opposites. Granddad was a staunch Democrat. Having spent much of his adult life as a mail carrier, he was a strong union supporter. My grandmother on the other hand was a dyed-in-the-wool Republican. They fought like cats and dogs over politics...until she threw a salt cellar at him and broke his wrist when he put it up to block it from hitting him in the face...because he didn't support her candidate. They divorced shortly after that.
I was totally waiting for the "inspite of their differences they lived together until the end and passed away within hours of each other" ending there!
