I'm done with Ben Franklin. The quote was widely attributed to him. If he didn't really say it, so be it. That doesn't change the fact that it is widely attributed to him.

Just say 'I was wrong, sorry'. How hard is that? It is baffling that you are this unable to admit even the smallest, most insignificant mistake. Embarrassing.

Regardless, you used this fake quote to support your previous opinion and that's now invalid because the quote was false. Back to square one.

But it does change the fact that your original point is invalid because you thought it was supported by a founding father and it wasn't.

Actually the fact is you'd rather play the gotcha game with Ben Franklin rather than talk about the title of this thread...Democrats losing election after election on and on.

It really isn't. You made a claim and tried to back it up with a fake quote. When informed your quote was fake you childishly refused to acknowledge it and are now whining that people pointing out falsehoods is a 'gotcha game' instead of you just being unable to accept responsibility for what you wrote.

If you were adult enough to admit you made a mistake this would have been over a long time ago. It is no one's fault but your own that it continues.

What happened to all that referendum talk? Funny how that works. lol

Not sure what you mean. Can you elaborate? Did you mean it as a referendum on Trump? If so, a 20 point swing away from Republicans sure seems to be an extremely negative referendum on Trump. I would imagine even the most partisan republican would admit it looks bad.

This is some A+ projection on your part. Somehow gigantic swings in basically every congressional election don't matter because Republicans still eked out wins in red districts. ROFL indeed.

If you think the trends in special elections including Georgia are not a giant flashing warning sign to Republicans that their Hoise majority is in jeopardy that's your business. I doubt Republican campaign managers agree with you though. You're allowing emotion and wishful thinking to overwhelm logic.

You'd imagine wrong. The most partisan ones aren't rational human beings any longer.

Nah. What they actually think and what they will admit to are just very different things.

I have no doubt that DSF has realized what he said was stupid but he is an exceptionally proud person. He will invent countless excuses and then when those don't work will start calling everyone liars. Finally he will finish up with complaining how mean everyone here is to him.

It's the circle of DSF life, and it moves us all.

If anybody should be worried right now it's Democrats...they threw everything including the kitchen sink at the GA election and still lost. The Democrats are 0-5 in special election "referendums" and their party leadership is in shambles. And now we're supposed to believe Democrats have a serious chance of taking the House in 2018? You've got to be kidding. Is Nate Silvers predicting this? If anyone is allowing emotion and wishful thinking to their overwhelm their logic...it's you.

Trumpsters.

Well, Ooorooo meant certain brown people as contrasted with white christians, because that's the typical conservative image of the underclass.

I would agree that it's pretty hard for the white nationalist party to lose an election in the south; though disagree that's something to be proud of.

Yes, 538 puts the house definitely in play based on the results so far.

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/where-can-democrats-win-georgia-6-ossoff-handel/

The special elections have been trending strongly Democratic as compared to other recent electoral results. Since these elections have generally happened in very red districts and Republicans have won by small margins, less red districts are likely in play and there are more than enough of those bluer-than-these districts to flip the House.

Is it some guarantee? Of course not. Any republican that isn't worried about these results though is lying, an idiot, or engaging in wishful thinking. In your case, maybe all three.

I'm pretty sure you realize the danger too but now can't admit it because I made fun of you.

Aren't we a little early to make these kinds of predictions? But if this somehow gives you comfort...go for it. And if making fun of me helps you feel better about yourself in some way as well...how could I ever deny you such a small mercy?

You're like a broken record.

I don't recall previously mentioning that you're particularly proud of southern racists, though that does seem entirely in character. But since you brought up the subject, it's worth noticing you repeat the same talking point as them that winning votes is what really matters, which rather explains why it came so naturally for the GOP to partner with all the dixiecrats pissed off about desegregation, or those rather pleased that Trump finally reached out to race realists. Such events basically shape the american political map so excuse me for bringing the attention they deserve.

The prediction that the House could possibly be won by the opposition party? Of course not, don't be silly. The only truly stupid prediction at this point would be that the House ISN'T in play, which is what you appear to be arguing.

If anyone's trying to make themselves feel better it's the guy who is trying to convince himself that large measured shifts in election results don't indicate any change.
