Dems lose in 'Mail in Ballot' election. So why is Trump so against mail in ballots?

US House seat in California was occupied by a Dem.
She resigned because she had an affair with staffer.
Special election was held earlier this month (May) where it was mostly mail in votes because of pandemic.

Repub won.

So why is Trump so against mail in ballots?

you know, the one Dem that didn't pass the Republican purity test of not having a single extra-marital affair (especially if woman) was easily replaced by a very likely pussy-grabber/multiple bastard child/abortionist "moral republican" in a very red district.

Not much of an example for the rest of the country.

It actually wasn't even an affair.
Its crazy she ever resigned.
They made her resign because she was having a consensual relationship with an adult female staffer and her own husband (a throuple: all three of them were consensually having sex together) and that was somehow a violation of ethics to have a relationship with a staffer. She and her husband apparently broke up and he turned on her, allegedly leaking sex pics to the media and spreading unflattering stories. Really quite sad.

Yet people in politics have done way way way worse unethical things in politics and never resigned. Heck the president himself asked foreign countries to interfere in his elections, but hasn't resigned or really faced any consequence.

My sense is she didn't like the press and didn't want to see her name drug through the mud so she just got out, but I don't think the double standard women in politics are faced with helps. I personally don't think she should have ever resigned and its ridiculous the party didn't stand by her when clearly the bad guy here is the husband.

To the original question, two reasons.
1. He wants to minimize voter turnout
2. He is setting up to claim foul if he in fact does lose.

I think this is the area that Imgur/Reddit was falling over itself to suck Nunes' dick for claiming that Democrats were doing ballot stuffing (hence why they lost there), with a bunch of persons claiming "its an unspoken but known secret that Democrats have been stuffing the ballots that's why they've dominated California!" and then their "evidence" being that well ballot stuffing isn't illegal in California.

Tell the truth, you click on the overlay ads in youtube videos, don't you?
National File...LOL !

Overall, we rate National File an extreme right Tin Foil Hat Conspiracy website based on the promotion of unproven/debunked claims and a Strong Pseudoscience purveyor based on using junk science to support claims.

The word for the day kids is, "insufferable". Attack the messenger, attack the source. It worked in sixth grade. Some kids just never grow up.

Come on, have a sense of humor. You believe a lot of insane things and we find it funny. Can you blame us?

No, it's called critical thinking. A source that lies often, spinning a known false narrative about voter fraud, shouldn't be trusted.

Vote by mail changes the dynamics of voting. Turnout goes up, & the GOP hates that. Senior voters are their strength. Not just by dint of being more conservative but also in terms of turnout. Rain or shine, seniors will show up & vote in person. They have the time & the inclination to do so in ordinary circumstances. Covid-19 turns that on its head. Standing between seniors & voting by mail this election is a very, very bad idea for the GOP. Lots of seniors forced to show up to vote will probably do so more to spite the bastards than to support them. Even if it just suppresses senior turnout in general that's bad for the GOP.

The story by National File has gained traction at where else but Laura Ingraham's show on Fox News. She always has the wacko conspiracy bits on her show. She was the one pushing hydroxychloroquine to Trump at the WH.

My state has had universal vote by mail in every election since 2000. In 2016, we elected a Republican to Secretary of State who campaigned on the promise of stamping out voter fraud. After an extensive investigation, he discovered a whopping 54 suspicious ballots (0.002% of those cast) and no evidence whatsoever of any coordinated and/or widespread voter fraud.

I dont know but I would like to see mail in ballots AND polling stations in every state. Not one or the other. With that said, Id like to see what verification is in place for mail in ballots. The potential for abuse is definitely there.

Every audit ever done of mail voting found negligible levels of fraud, including the ones Republicans have done in their own states.

In states like PA the Trump campaign is waging a huge campaign to get Republicans to request mail ballots. The only reason Trump is pushing this is insurance if he loses the election he'll claim that he didn't lose but was cheated instead.

Ballot harvesting is not voter fraud. Ballot harvesters could engage in fraud but the practice itself is not fraudulent.
I know, I was asking Commodus his opinion.
Though I would frame the response differently. Balloting harvesting isn't voter fraud, but that's what it's used for. One election has already been overturned because of it.

Republican battleground state strategy is to selectively shut polling make people in Democratic areas wait hours in line to vote while people in Republican areas can vote in minutes. Mail in voting makes that strategy moot. Hence the freak out. GOP has lost the battle of ideas, vote suppression is their only strategy now.

Indeed. But it would be funny if it’s shown that he received most of his votes by mail in than in person.

Not exactly. The GOP was shown to have employed ballot harvesting as fraud in one N Carolina district.
