Dennis Miller

Can anyone tell me why this man is still on Monday night football?! Do any of you like to listen to this guy? I would rather listen to Rush Limbaugh than.... Wait, I take that back. But still, Dennis Miller is just so darn annoying. And ya know that all his "vast football knowledge" is just a stack of papers in front of him.

I consider myself to be at least semi intelligent, but I just can't get into some fella speaking Latin to describe a HB's running ability, or comparing a quarterback to some 13th century poet.

I would really like to know what every body else thinks about this. Am I alone in this dislike for Dennis?

Yeah we know he is clever and WELL educated and good for him...for real. But who gives a hoot. This is football.....you just want someone that will pump you up and not make you scratch your head saying "wth he just say?"

I can't stand listening to the MNF broadcast. I'll continue to turn down the TV volume until I can find that special TV/remote that allows me to MUTE Dennis and Dan-o.

Although I have to be ready to un-mute the TV, so I hang on every word of the lovely Melissa Stark.

Dennis Miller is either hated or loved, no in-between. The reason that he still has a job is the same reason that Howard Stern is still around: whether you love him or hate him, you still tune in to see what he'll say next.

While I agree with you about Howard, I find myself watching less and less MNF because of Dennis. Most of my friends say the same thing (Ha! Now they will think I have friends!! MWAAHAAHA! The fools!).

I think he's funny. Last season he wasn't sure how much to talk and what type of references to say, he did it all too much. I was constantly having to explain what he meant to my friends. He's 100% better this year. He's learned when to pick his spots, and his references aren't so esoteric anymore. He's great when the game gets boring too. And no way that I would rather hear Rush Limbaugh prattle on during my football game. Miller is funny, Limbaugh, never has been.

I like Dennis in there. He drops an occasional funny line, and he knows football. But I'll always miss the Michaels, Gifford, Derdorf<sp?> days.

I like the guy, I think he's funny. He's like the comic relief of the team. But he's not the reason I watch MNF - that reason is the beautiful Melissa Stark.

Dennis Miller sux, as far as I'm concerned. Dan Fouts is cool because he understands all the different schemes the NFL runs and can explain them. But Dennis Miller is a waste of air and they should have lost him LAST SEASON. Put Melissa in there to replace him

Actually I watch MNF to watch the game and not listen to Dennis Miller. I think he is annoying as hell. Has no football knowledge whatsoever. Has some very lame jokes and I often find him saying, "did you know that XXX, had xxx yards/touchdown/firstdowns/other useless crap on xxx" Always telling us some useless fact and thinking that we care.

I like him...I'm sick of the "color" commentators coming up with gems like these:

"They're gonna need to score some points to win this one..."
"Their defense is gonna have to stop the other team from scoring..."
"They can't keep turning the ball over..."
"To win, they're gonna have to get some touchdowns..."
"To move the ball, they're gonna have to execute better..."
"They're gonna need points to win this game!"<---Heard this one Sunday

These may not be verbatim, but they are really close to what I've been hearing lately.

Most of the one-liners these guys quip are like, "Wow, really? Gee, thanks, I didn't know that."

At least with Miller, you've got to think a bit or maybe pull in the obscure reference...and yes, if you have no clue what he's talking about, it's not gonna be funny.
