Some Denny's can be ok. I've been to a few horrible ones, though. Perkins are generally ok.

Some of their breakfasts are so huge, I don't know how some of them can be eaten in one sitting by one person.

Like the before mentioned lumberjack slam...

  • Two pancakes
  • Slice of ham
  • Two pieces of bacon
  • Two sausages
  • Two eggs
  • Hashbrowns
  • Two pieces of bread

Yes, I have ordered it before, but it took two people to eat it.

I'm sure they have some good food, but definitely not that.

Ordering specialty food at a chain breakfast place = mistake.

A good cheese steak or hoagie requires a freshly baked (same day), high gluten, chewy, lightly-but-definitely crusted roll.

Rolls with the pith and consistency of a hamburger bun fail miserably.

We won't even mention the unhacked, cut way too thick slices of gristly meat chains use. They have no clue.

LOL, each seperate portion of the above is so tiny that breakfast should be called poser lumberjack. It's a marketing mirage, imho.

Nevertheless, you seem like a choice guy to go out to breakfast with.

"You gonna' eat that?"

lol, The pancakes are pretty big! Not to mention a half a plate of hashbrowns and toast.

One pancake, two eggs, and a couple pieces of bacon sounds great to me, I'll give you the rest of the starch (hashbrowns, other pancake and the toast)

It's not totally clear from your post, true, but by my calculations you're also ceeding me the ham and both sausages as well (deftly scoops them off of helpme's plate.)

You, umm, gonna' finish that OJ?

not because of people eating Breakfast like that. in fact that used to be the norm.

hell there are times i have a t-bone, eggs, hash browns for breakfast. i would rather go a large breakfast with small meals during the day. not to mention while working its hard to get good size lunch and dinner heh

I think this is just a case you getting lucky and going to a particular Dennys where due simple chance, the quality of everything was good. You have to figure out of hundreds of restaurants in a chain, some are going to be better than others. You happened upon a Denny's in the top 1% of all Denny's. The rest are still crap.

Breakfast so big I forget how much food is in it! I'll split the ham with you, but you can have the sausages (unless they are sausage patties, then I'll only give up one).

I love Denny's.

I think it's because I was very drunk one night and we went to a Denny's, and it was the most amazing food I've ever had. I think this experience has stuck with me somewhat.

Isn't Denny's franchised - meaning that usually every store you will have a slightly different experience. Sure they all have the same menu, but I am talking about service etc.

Dennys is terrible. I still want my money back from my last overpriced cold fried egg breakfast.

Dennys is great at 4am when you've just left the club and need somewhere to go to sober up.

The one in my town is pretty good for breakfast. Friendly service and the food comes quick (I can see the two guys cooking up the breakfast behind the wait counter).

Yeah, it's usually a lot of food and I can't finish it. The last I was there it was very early in the AM, the cook made too much pancake batter and so made two Ginormous pancakes they had to put on a seperate plate.

But I wouldn't eat other (non-breakfast) food there.
