Denon 1913 @ 69$ Missing Audyssey Mic

I found a good deal on a Denon 1913 at 69$ for a used display model from Best Buy, so I am returning the Yamaha RX V673. The only problem with the Denon is that it does not include the Audyssey Mic.

So I was wondering if I could use the Microphone from the Yamaha to setup the Denon before I return it or should I buy a new microphone? If i buy a new one, is the correct one for this unit in this link?

Okay, I contacted Denon and they told me the model number is acm1hb. Ordered one off of ebay so now I am wondering, is it possible to setup the system with the yamaha micphone? If not, can I setup the system manually?

You do not need to set up Audyssey to set up the DVR. Audyssey is tuned for that specific mic, do not use the Yamaha. Just wait a few days until you receive the Denon mic and set up Audyssey.

I also got the best buy protection plan with the display model. They will repair or replace the unit, if it can't be fixed, up to 4 years. Paid 100 total for the unit. Excellent deal! QFT, the mics are specific to the tuners despite others will 'plug in'.

If you have a friend with a Denon, I am sure he wouldn't mind you to borrow his mic since this is something you rarely have to do.

I also go back with my own SPL and fine tune things, but I am using Yamaha's version. Mostly it put's my sub a little too low for my tastes. I don't like it over bassy like some of my friends with 2+ HSU's in a room that isn't big enough for even one , but music / HT is a very subjective thing.

I am not sure the version of Audyssey mic that the 1913 uses, but it's probably the HCM1, calling Denon they should be able to tell you. You can get that for $34.99 at accessories4less.com. I know on ebay they have a ton of a unit that show for the xx10 series, but doesn't list any of the xx13 series as compatible.

If you tell them you have a 1913 and didn't get a mic with it, they may even send you out one free. I have been a Yamaha guy for a long time, but I wouldn't have a problem owning a Denon. I am getting ready to upgrade and they are finally competitive with the Yamahas I am looking at now.
