Just wanted to give you a heads up that the guys at 6 Ave are selling the Denon 3802 for $699 plus shipping. This is a great receiver for almost any application. This is the lowest price Ive seen from an Authorized dealer. Specs

Credit goes to Greg at the Home Theater Forums. Check this thread here for more info.

Many people have been picking up this "Kick-Butt" receiver from 6th Ave. for $699 - shipped. If anyone is going to purchase this receiver, it might be worth asking their salesperson about throwing the shipping in for $699. Good luck to y'all - I'm already envious. However, I do have the AVR-1082 which is simply the best receiver I've ever owned.

I got Denon 2802 last Christmas with the MSN holiday rewards deal

FYI, this usually sells for $1000 from an authorized retailer Crutchfield link

it's listed as $998 on their web site. they do have the 3801 for $695, but that's an old model
which doesn't have DPL2
nxgen has the avr-1082 (same as 3802) for $651 shipped

To get that price simply call the 1-866 number and ask them for the price. If they do not quote $699 tell them that you are aware of others getting the deal for $699 and ask if you can have it too. I ordered today and when I called they told me the price was $699

For those of you interested in Onkyo www.oadebros.com will give a simmilar or better % deal depending on stock / model. They also do Sony.
Only problem with that is Onkyo and Sony suck ass, dollar for dollar, when compared to the Denon.

I got an AVR 2802 from 6th ave for 500 bucks shipped. The only real difference between the 2802 and the 3802 is the power ratings (80 watts x 6 vs 100 watts x 6)

Kickass deal.
They have to advertise the prices set by Denon but the salespersons WILL deal...
699 for the 3802 is a kickass price.

I agree. I had an Onkyo 575 before getting this Denon 2802. The Denon is much better in every aspect.

actually, here is one of the nicer features that the 3802 gives you over the 2802, which is supposed to help eliminate noise

DDSC-Digital (Dynamic Discrete Surround Circuit): DDSC-Digital is a circuit configuration specially designed by Denon in which all the elements of the surround processor are optimized by the use of selected high performance discrete elements, including separate A/D and D/A conversion, with sophisticated DSP surround decoding.

3802 guts
2802 guts

You can't go wrong with either one IMO, but at this price, the 3802 is a steal.

"The only real difference between the 2802 and the 3802 is the power ratings (80 watts x 6 vs 100 watts x 6)"

Not accurate. The 2802 is 90x6, and the 3802 is 110x7. The main difference being that 7th amped channel for a 7.1 system.

Can anyone confirm that this is an authorized dealer?

When I ordered the rep told me that all you need to do is return the unit to any authorized dealer in the area and they will have it sent back to Denon for repairs or replaced. This excited me because I am in Texas, a long ways from NJ. I can take my unit to Tweeter, which is only 20 min away and they can send it back for me. I believe it s a 2 year warranty on this unit.

For those of you who have Denon receivers, what speakers do you use? I am looking at getting a 5.1 setup right now for my new apartment we will be moving into when school starts back up. Ill be adding this kick ass SVS sub. Here Hopefully they wont kick me out of our complex.

I bought my 3802 last Christmas for 725.00+tax from my local authorized dealer. It's one helluva receiver with a warm sound. I was considering the 4802 but it is way overpriced.

Wow, very nice deal going on over here. I got my Denon 3802 for 800 +tax from a nice store in Manhattan around May of this year. Very nice receiver, drives my speakers (Paradigm Studio 60s+cc+atoms) very well. Solidly built, just like a tank. The only quip I have with the Denon 3802 is its remote... its a bit quirky/complicated to say the least... just make sure to read the manual .

Yes I also dislike the remote. I bought a MX-500 and it's a dream.

John, what setup do you have in your home? I was thinking of the following brands to match up with this bad boy. Paradigm, PSB, Axiom Audio, B&W. Any ideas? Im thinking of Bookshelves in the front and back, matched sets, along with a center. Only 5.1 for now. Anyway, any suggestions?

I was going to use Paradigm Reference but my local dealer could not get them. I went with Klipsch Reference instead and couldn't be happier.

RF3-II fronts
RC-3 II center
RS3-II surrounds
(2) SVS 20-39 CS+ subs
Samson 1000 to run the subs
JVC SA70BK progressive DVD player
Hughes HDTV receiver
Hitachi 53UWX10B 16:9 HDTV

I am amazed at the efficiency of the Klipsch ref's, and they pair up with the Denon quite well. I have the system calibrated with Avia, and I typically watch movies @ -15db (105db is reference) and it sounds crystal clear. I gathered a lot of useful info from hometheaterforum.com before making my purchases last Christmas. I have over 400 movies in my DVD collection, and watching them is a grand experience for me and my GF.

If you can get a good deal on Paradigm Reference series, you should demo them out. the Studio 40's are the best bang for the buck, and people say they are cleaner than the 60's or 80's. Just make sure you get a nice sub.

OK, time to watch Orange County!

John, I also frequent the Home Theater Forum. I am planning on adding the SVS 20-39PCi sub, but Ill be in an apartment so we'll see how long that will last. May get evicted. I will also be using AVIA on my system. For now we just have a 32" TV (my roomates) but would love to move to HD in the future.

I just picked up the 3802 from 6th Ave for $699 + $21 shipping -- this is one heck of a price from an authorized retailer!

Now everyone go read my post about the new Rocket Loudspeakers!

You have to call 6th Ave. to get the $699 price. Don't shop on-line for it.

Yes! I just wanted to let you know that this deal is still going on. I just got mine for $699 plus about $26 for shipping to Texas (I tried to get free shipping but to no avail). Still, this is a fantastic deal, so get it in on it while you can!

How is this receiver (3802) compare against the Harman Kardon AVR520, which I'm seriously considering purchasing soon?
