Not sure if its a better deal than the yamaha a3000 thats been popping up but theres no doubt its a great product.

There seems to be a lot of confusion over this. I'm not sure I would want to spend that kind of money with an uncertain warranty situation. However, a few people on avsforum.com have had success getting other authorized dealers to match Newegg's price (Electronics Expo in particular).

Isn't Denon a rippoff either way?

The ones with the $500 Ethernet cable that had a directional arrow on it so that you don't connect your things in the wrong eithernet direction?

That cable thing is insane. But their receivers are well worth the money. You do have to be careful on pricing and refuse to pay MSRP. This often requires calling authorized dealers and haggling.

Denon makes some of the best receivers out there.

I still have my AVR-5700 I paid around $4,000 for in 2001. It's still the most powerful consumer-class receiver ever made. Denon makes amazing audio equipment, just avoid the low-end crap they sell at Fry's.

I'm still rocking my Denon 3808, well worth the money. Maybe I will upgrade to something newer when I finish my theater/game room.
