My current employer pays for mine so of course I use it. I can't say for a sure but a lot of people seem to be listing plans that are at least partially sponsored by their employer. If some one else is paying most of the cost I'd say that really changes things.
My previous employer offered plans but you paid the full cost. I looked it over and it just made no sense at all why anyone would get it. It paid entirely for most preventative stuff, partially for minor repairs and something like 20% for major repairs. And It had some low cap of yearly payouts. I remember looking at it and thinking the yearly cap on payouts was almost exactly the same as the yearly premium cost. Which made it completely pointless. And this was with an assumed group policy discount, meaning if anything the privately purchased plans would be even worse. It was like the opposite of major medical, it only covered small costs that you could easily afford out of pocket but left you up shit creek if anything serious needed to be done. I figured I might as well just set some money aside in case of major dental work versus that plan because I'd ALWAYS come out ahead with that method.
