Dentists : What is the easiest way to pull a tooth using common household tools? (considering self extraction)

figure its going to need some side to side pushing to help first loosen it up.
I figure the worst that could happen is that I could crush all of the tooth and then have nothing to grab onto.

I had my wisdom teeth removed a month ago. The dentist had to break the teeth in 2 or 3, then removed every part of it one byt one (he pulled really hard with both hands to remove them... I thought my jaw was gonna break!!) Then, even though he sewed the wound, it bled for an hour.

Do yourself a favor, DON'T remove it by yourself!!!!

That's a really good idea. My girlfriend had her 4 teeth removed at university, and they charged only 1/4 of the regular price. If you can't afford that, you don't put your priorities at the right places...

I'm with you man kudos, I've given myself stiches and my dogs too. My wife says no to the kids lol but I have a full medicine kit with morphine, stiches, dental epoxies cuz you never know. My mom had all 8 of us w/o a doctor.

I assembled the kit myself, those store bought kits arn't worth dung, Morphine was percribed by a doctor filled by a pharmacist. I get an new one about every 6 months cuz it expires in the heat. Both are family members which makes it a little easier.

Grow a sense of history and learn why medical costs are as high as they are we live in a nation of hypochondriacs who need a doctor whenever they get a splinter then sue cuz it hurts.. Call your mommy and ask her.

If you've got means spend the money to see a dentist for a proper extraction. If not go to the ER, so someone can assess you possible infection/abscess and provide antibiotics. Regardless, DO NOT put a nonsterile implement in your mouth and remove the tooth. The nasty flora of your mouth is bad enough but why compound your risk by putting pliers in there?!

If you go to the ER definitely go between 9AM and 3PM . . . otherwise the odds of getting a dental consult are essentially nil.
