I do not under stand DEP and as I want my computer protected, everytime I get in to a file or folder it pop ups and shuts my window down. I need to have it set so that I can function in my files and folders.
I do not know what is causing it, but I always get this "Data Execution Prevention-Microsoft Windows to help protect your comupter, windows has closed this program." It does it on my files and folders, so how do I find out where the source of the problem is?

Is it possible your computer has a virus? There are some free online antivirus scans that may help answer that, try here: Panda free online scanner. If it turns out to have any, then see if you can find the weaknesses that let the viruses get in. The "secure is good" link in my signature has some resources and suggestions.
I don't know this for a fact, but I expect Data Execution Prevention incidents will leave a record in your computer's Event Viewer logs. Try going to Control Panel > Performance & Maintenance > Administrative Tools and look in the Event Viewer logs and see if you can detect a correspondence and get some clues about the cause. Hang in there
Thank you I went there and there is Application Log Application Error Record with 2951 events
Then in System it says System Error Records and there are 2384 events. What should I do?
