Depeche Mode: What say you?

Never listened to DM before (besides the major hits I hear randomly)

They got a pretty sick tour coming up at 3 of my favorite venues...so what does ATOT think?

Love them. Very good stuff. Probably one of my favorite bands and just about every album is top notch. And I can't believe you've never heard of them. They've been around since the 80s.

I've heard OF THEM and know some of their major songs. I don't listen to them.


So if you guys can point me out some killer albums, it'd be much appreciated

They're playing at the Hollywood Bowl, SB Bowl, and Pearl; 3 of the greatest venues ever.

Depeche Mode is great, but to me the really interesting thing is that I would almost say their two most recent albums are better than the music they are most well known for. Definitely worth seeing on this tour.

Great album. Martin Gore is a great songwriter. One of the best IMO.

All the albums from the 80's are great (I include Violator in that group, although it was released early in '90).

Lacuna Coil does a nice cover of Enjoy the Silence. I don't really like the DM version though.

Also the remix singles are AWESOME. There was a time when I had every album and at least two singles from each album. And you can generally be assured of a VERY good recording on most all of their stuff.

Any band with a lifespan of 20 years deserves at least a look at.

wtf? Every song off Violator is awesome.

We saw them up at Key Arena on their last tour. A bar across the street was PACKED with DM fans (a radio station was there doing trivia and giveaways and stuff). I've never seen so many spiked dog collars in my life.
