OK, right now I am crying because of all the love I am getting from you.

Thanks all.

I am going to call them right now so now 'lights and siren" response shows up.

David, still crying.

Talking is most important when depressed. It doesn't even matter at that point if it will change anything, as long as there is someone to share it with. Shared pain hurts less.

If you have known deep depressions you may be extra suited for helping out people, as you can understand their pain and anticipate their moods.

I am going to hate myself later, but please give me some help.

My dispatch is 702-384-3400 (employee 1972)

I could really use some help before I am too bad off to ask for help. God I feel like a schmuck right now...

I will call them myself, but I am too embarassed.
Please at least give me my dignity and make this call for me. You can say you are a friend from out of state.

Please.

I am sympathetic, but it's time to see a psychiatrist. There's only so much that a bunch of strangers online can do for you. For a few nights, people on here can help but if this is truly a long term thing as you say, it's time for you to go seek professional help. As someone who is frequently called on to help others, you should know that there are times when real, professional help is the only option.

For those that offered advice - it's very well meaning and very compassionate but this is not a time for armchair psychiatrists. There are many cases where well meaning people try to talk others out of depression or suicide but only end up making things worse.

Afraid it will be a bit hard for me to attend such a meeting, bit far away

He stated that he is already under professional care -- he asked for help here, and he got it. I got here late, but for the guys who called, you're awesome. And David, I hope you count this as one of the many many brave things you have done in your life. Take care.

Hope life looks up for you. Twice in recent years, the paramedics have been there for me, including once at a near fatal car accident.

They were there for me at those times and I wish I could return the favor now.

During the ambulance ride, I asked them how their work is and one said, "a good day is a day I don't get any calls."

To which I replied, "I'm sorry for ruining your day."

And he said, "It's ok, that's what we are here for. What matters is you are ok."

And so, I hope someone will be there for you and what matters is that you are ok.

Get well soon, emergency workers are better people than I. If I am deserving of their efforts, you are certainly deserving of ours.

You did a brave thing by getting help. I have suffered (and still do at times) through severe depression. I know what it feels like. It's not fun. It's so hard to pick yourself up once you're already so low, but you have to do it. It's not easy, that's for sure. You made a big step by talking about it here and getting help. I hope all goes well with you. Please keep us updated and let us know how you are.

Well i'd rather not argue about this in this thread but help is a relative term. You may think you are helping, but could be doing an immeasurable amount of damage. I finished my psychology degree recently and you would be shocked to learn how many well-meaning people try to offer advice but end up worsening the situation. Sort of like health care - would you let an untrained person try to administer CPR? May mean well, but doing it incorrectly can suffocate the person.

If you, David, are seeing a psychologist (a clinical one, trained in anxiety and depression, not any old one) then it's times like these in which you should be talking to him/her, and if it's not doing it for you, then you need to find another one. Best wishes.

I am a longtime depression sufferer myself, and I have several friends who suffer from depressions, one of which still is on medication for it. Still, rather than immediately seeking professional help whenever we're feeling down, we take comfort in eachother by providing a listening and understanding ear whenever needed. He should seek long-term help if he hasn't already, but he should not only talk to his shrink but also take comfort in his friends. If helps against the feeling of loneliness, that's often the toughest part of depression (even when you aren't you can still feel alone). Don't underestimate the power of human interest.

Injuries can be devestating and life altering. Feeling down about it is norrmal, when you let it rule your life, it's time to get some help.

The trick is to make lemonade when life gives you lemons. It can be very hard, I know, but everyone has limitations, rising above those is what's important.

Good luck, shoot me a pm or an e-mail is you ever need to talk.

Goodluck. I can't say anything that hasn't already been said...you said you were seeing a psychologist - what about a psychiatrist? Anti-depressants have helped a lot of people but coming from your field I'm sure you know that. If you haven't tried that it's definitely worth a shot.
