it's ironic that Linus on the wanshow podcast went thru the runaround he and his team got when some aib tried to get them to visit during the computex trip. he explicitly made it clear if they didnt get to film a gpu assembly process he wasnt going to show. naturally he shows up and rugpull, and no factory access.

meanwhile Roman got the goods and free reign to film.

That's super cool how they just let him wander around the entire facility unattended, able to film everything. Also didn't realize that they'd test 100% of the finished cards for an hour and 10% of the cards for 24 hours to ensure they're all working. Figured there would just be a boot up test for most and off they went, so that's cool. Makes me feel a lot better about my Powercolor 6700XT. I used to consider Powercolor more of a mid tier brand but this is some top notch stuff and quality control.

I think the handler is off-screen and they probably trust Derbauer more with this kind of material than your regular youtuber since he has experience with manufacturing and working with companies in this space. Second important aspect is the assembly line is new, they're proud of it and they want to show it to the world. Little risk, big reward.

I think we saw a similar attempt with Acer and the Gamer Nexus video about dismantling a prototype 4090. The "handlers" are in the back seat, I think Acer reps also chose Steve because he's proven some knowledge and interest in GPU engineering on the channel. They allow him to handle the process and trust he's able to properly inform the audience about what they're seeing.

These are not videos you want handled by your typical influencer. That kind of material requires a proper PR handler to lead the presentation. Here, both Powercolor and Acer lean into the youtuber's expertise to replace the credible PR & engineering voice they probably lack.
