That's the worst times. When it's got a chance to get hot and that cold jet stream gets to mixing with all that warm air. The worst storms I've seen all started like that.

Derecha = Spanish for "right" (as in a "right turn" )

I'm pretty sure that is confusing for people learning Spanish.

oh yeah. tonight is supposed to be very very nasty. its supposed to drop over 20 degrees by latter tonight (from 84 to 58) and stormy.

The media hadn't heard of it before a few months ago when that surprise storm hit the east coast and knocked a bunch of trees and power lines down (before Sandy). I'm sure they're all aflutter over getting to use it again.

We had one come through the Northern VA area last year. Pretty scary because it came out of nowhere, after dark. Just sitting there, winds started going crazy, I ran upstairs to take a dump (you don't want to be caught in a tornado and also have to take a shit), and I felt my house physically move from the wind gusts. Granted, my house is a piece of crap made of match sticks and tinker toys, but it was still unsettling.
