yea, not looking forward to this storm.
The hail probability for the Chicagoland area is above 60% and is listed as 'significant'.
60% probability of winds in excess of 50 knots.

Crazy stuff. Of course it is going to hit when it is dark. Not cool.

First time I've seen a heavy severe storm risk when it wasn't for tornadoes.

Weather alerts become more hysterical for about 12mos whenever DC/New York experience anything stronger than a mild shower.

I'm in the moderate region and the forecast doesn't look bad. I hope my corn's roots are far enough along that the plants survive.

Since when? Derecho means right, and not just the opposite of left.

Lucha, lucha, con todas tus fuerzas.
Lucha por tu derecho de fiestar!

(A Spanish translation of my high school class song. :$)

Just because English uses the same word to refer to a "right turn" and a "right to free speech" doesn't mean that every language has to.

Significant tornado outbreak expected for Northern Illinois, including Chicago metro area. This will be exciting.

Also, surprised at the number of people who've never heard of "derecho" before. :hmm:

We had one of these last June that put a few tree branches through our roof and knocked out our power for 6 hours. I hope this one isn't as bad.

Blackhawks play at 19:00. That means I will lose power at 19:15 right around puck drop.

Need to put all of the outdoor furniture away.

Do I put the grill and smoker in the dining room or leave them outside...?

Just take the battery out of your smoke detector.

right now its over the country area. since that is mainly old white people.

he is going to turn it off before it gets to Chicago.

Shit like this makes me glad I live in California; we don't get bad weather here like that. I'd never heard of "derecho" before today, and it sounds crazy. Stay safe everyone!

Indy appears to be on the southern edge of the nasty stuff so hopefully we won't get hit too badly.

You should be fine unless it takes a huge dip south. I'm a few hours west of you and it's a sunny 90F outside.

Yep. Absolutely nothing outside of Peoria. That cold front hasn't really pushed in yet though. So who knows when/if we get the fun stuff to start.
