I'm at the far south edge in the moderate zone. Forecasted 80% chance of thunderstorms etc. I just went to let the dogs out and there isn't any evidence of a single drop of rain anywhere.

Had a derecho here last year I think it was. The wind was crazy and took out a bunch of trees and stuff. Somehow my dilapidated shed was still standing afterwards If we get another good wind tonight it may not be in the morning. Hopefully if it falls it doesn't damage the lawnmower.

I'm in Columbus and I was worried that we were going to have a repeat of last year. It doesn't seem to be nearly as bad so far. It seems to moved past us. A bunch of people without power but they haven't reported widespread damage.

I think Derecho must be Spanish for a quick wind followed by what people used to call a mild thunderstorm and steady rain.
But hey, don't let that stop Jim Ganahl from interrupting with hours upon hours of Team Coverage to tell me what the weather is three states away. Ridiculous.

Impressive storm squall rolled through here about 15 minutes ago. Wind was howling and we had several power blips, setting off UPS alarms throughout the building. We have two other buildings without power now. Secretaries are crowded into the vestibule like its an end of world scenario ... heh.

So they are asking me to see if I can replace their UPS battery (we replaced them last Friday but we appear to have gotten a bad batch of batteries) and I politely declined that request. Ladies, that's why we gave you a LAPTOP as well as your desktop !!!!

I think we're getting the remnants of the storm tonight. But it doesn't sound like the forcast is calling for much more than high winds.

That storm was really overhyped for my area. It was all doom and gloom.
By 19:20 when the Blackhawks game started it was partly sunny by me (I'm 30 miles west of Chicago).

We had one confirmed touchdown where I live in Ohio (between Toledo and Columbus).

I think they overhyped it this year because they got a ton of flak last year for not giving people enough warning.
