Yeah I can see the goal of any despot is to tell their subjects what they can and especially cannot do, what role they must play to provide and defend the wants and needs of their aristocrat superiors, how dumbed down they need to be to prevent these peasants they own from becoming a threat to the autocrat class, etc. but above all, these serfs must also like being subjugated. They must adore and worship their Chosen Ones.
This is exactly what the Republican rank and file have become in regard to their relationship with Trump. In reality, Trump wants to be more like Kim Jong Un than his handler Putin. In this regard he has succeeded with great success. I mean, here he is found guilty of some things and indicted multiple times for other crimes he is accused of, a shameless adulterer, found to be totally lacking in what it takes to be a leader among nations and a leader who cares more for the people he leads than himself. Yet he is the Republican party's choice to be the nation's leader AGAIN because their far right wing base of knuckle dragging head hunters have become Trump's enforcers, his version of the Gestapo and KGB all rolled into one that threatens the rest of the party to be loyal and obedient.
This is an aberration, an attempt to time warp the nation back into medieval times where royalty and religion worked hand in hand to keep their useful idiots from usurping this imaginative ultimate power they wield over their indentured slave labor. Over 70 million Americans would like for this to happen for the mere reason that they've been mesmerized into believing that there is no other acceptable alternative to choose from, that it's dangerous to think for themselves, that they should let their manipulative exploitive political cadre do their thinking for them AND foolishly believe that their free will is alive and well when they gave that up in the service of Trump.
