Edit: They made their KS goal, however the push for funding continues on their website with some great stretch goals! So, if you still want to help, or just get the game cheaper than when it releases go to their site and pledge!

Being brought to you by Eric Peterson - Wingman, the guy what helped Chris Roberts start up CIG and get Star Citizen rolling...

Just in case anyone cares.

The only reason I'd want to back this is because it was originally a part time project that they were going to do a Descent-like game called "Ships That Fight Undergound." Think about that for a minute... "STFU". Interplay approached them and asked if they'd want to do an official Descent game, and that's why this is happening.

i could never get into it. going up and down as well as the other directions was difficult for me. although back in those days, i didn't know about wasd so maybe it might be easier now.

Joystick with cap-switch ruled in these games. Still have my old MS Force-feedback too!

Now if only someone could write Disney and Lawrence Holland and get them to produce a new X-Wing game. Then the world would be perfect.

The original Descent was one of my favourite early 3D games. I bought the PS1 version from a thrift shop years ago but sadly it no longer works. Great news that they're finally reviving the series, and that it got fully funded. Stoked for this.

I think with a modern controller using dual analog this game would work quite well.

you'd need one more axis for fore/aft or up/down. could use triggers, but then what would you use for fire?

keyboard + joystick with hat switch was the way to go

Left analog is strafe up, down, left, right
Right analog is pitch up, down, and roll left, right.
Analog triggers control your thrust. Then you have 4 face buttons and two bumpers to control firing weapons or targeting. dunno...i'd try it

I used to play the first two games with a HOTAS setup I had for my flight sims as well. Had the full throttle and F-16 stick with like 60 buttons or something, plus hat switch and a mode switch so I could have another 60 functions in mode 2.

problem with that is you need to move one of your thumbs from movement to fire control every time you want to take a shot. I suppose you could do a weird grip where your index fingers are on the bumpers for firing and your middle fingers control the triggers...that could work.

IIRC, descent 1/2 I played with wasd for up/down/left/right strafe, left shift/control for forward/backward, and joystick for pitch/yaw/roll with fire controls being space and joystick buttons.
