What would your perfect job be? I mean something realistic, not something like, "get paid a million dollars a day to be a porn star." Tell us more than just the title - tell us something about what you'd want to be doing, where you'd want it to be, what you'd want your co-workers and boss to be like, etc.

Getting paid to play the blues. I don't care about cash or materialistic things so if I broke even each week I'd be content.

photographer, paid good money to travel the world and to update my blog. i'd like to make enough money to support a family, to send kids through college, and also to afford a reasonable amount of luxuries (house, cars, latest gadgets).

Jayna: "...form of--Hawk! Come on, Peter!"
Peter: "Okay, I'm coming. Form of--Jayna's tampon [goes in purse]. And now we play the waiting game."

I think you should get back into the nef posts. btw, are you hot?

My ideal job would consist of me testing new games for software companies. I would come in to my office in the morning and say hello to a team of geeky underlings, all of which would be testing games for bugs and other issues. I'd saunter on by to the sound of them fwapping away on the ASDW keys and make my way into my beautifully sunlit corner office where I would read the paper and enjoy my coffee. I'd make a trip to my private bathroom to read the sports section and keep up to date on how many games over .500 my Oilers are and how Ales Hemsky is fast becoming the best playmaker in hockey. Before lunch, I'd log on to ATOT to nef a bit, and then test a few games for about a half hour or so. Lunchtime would consist of meeting up with my wife on a nice patio downtown where we would discuss the merits of owning a wall-sized plasma television as opposed to a 60". After a delicious chicken club sandwich and a caesar salad, I drive my jet black 1986 Cutlass Supreme Brougham back to the office and crack the whip a bit (the minions are effing the dog). With food for thought in my belly, I fire off a few reviews and emails to select players in the gaming industry. For afternoon coffee break, the whole team heads down to Tim Horton's where we sit for about 20 minutes talking about current events. Everyone is an Oilers fan so we have no trouble talking hockey. The day ends with the team playing Half Life 2: DM and realizing that they can never let the boss get the crossbow because he never misses with it and it's always a one-shot kill. I finish the game 30-4 and go home to cook dinner.

I didn't ask if it was real or not. It's an exercise in learning about other people - you don't have to participate if you don't want to, but sheesh, some of you are so narrow minded...

Business process analysis and design, I'd be helping people get their jobs done more efficiently and easily, helping them get rid of the things they don't like and that make it harder for them to do what they're hired to do. Would be fun because I'd get to immerse myself in many different departments and processes, dissect what's going on, and gain knowledge in all kinds of areas. I'd be working with quirky people like myself who love to "get their hands dirty" and who can really give things that extra push when they need to. Should be there in a few years.

Working from home doing exactly what I do now - reporting and analytics, system configuration design, subject matter expert and troubleshooter on an ATS. Except with more reasonable co-workers.
