I'm currentlhy a Business Analyst doing BPR work similar to what you described. I perform interviews, diagram AS-IS and TO-BE processes, and I also manage schedules, risks, milestones, etc.
While the job itself can be interesting, i.e. you're either integrating business workflow or "suggesting" process efficiencies, whether you like it or not really comes down to your employer.
My employer gave no benefits, no perks. I simply got a paycheck every week, and because of the lack of motivation, I became quite disgruntled.
Anyhow, I got a new job doing the above, except more from an R & D and Project Rollout perspective. And this time, I get benefits.
I guess I got OT from the topic. Sorry.
Oh, absolutely employer makes a difference. I quite literally hate the job I have right now but my employer is amazing and that's really all that's keeping me hanging on. A good employer can make all the difference, but if you're not doing something that you enjoy, then it's not only a pain, but you're killing your career because you're not on the path you want to be on.Originally posted by: Otaking
