its absolutely the scariest thing ever because i think i'm awake. this feels like it goes on for hours. i have woken my family up a bunch of times with my screaming and stuff.

Yeah, this sounds like sleep paralysis... i use to get them almost weekly when i was younger... haven't had them in years though. They never really bothered me that much, though i have a friend who gets it almost everynight, and she doesn't handle them very well.
I would've said the same thing, except... you can't scream during sleep paralysis...

She said she tries to scream and move, but nothing happens. I'm assuming the waking her parents up is when she finally breaks free from the paralysis and screams.
Sleep paralysis for "hours" is a bit rough, no ?

She said 'feels' like they went on for hours. How exactly do you judge time when you're asleep?

I've been sleep paralyzed before and it felt like minutes because that's how long I was struggling to move for. My point is that what she had wasn't sleep paralysis. There's no way it would happen, or even feel like it, for that long because your eyes are open and you can see things as they happen. Have you had it for what seemed like hours ?

I only have a couple I can remember that have happened more than once.. in one I'm running, running, running, something is cjhasing me but I always walk up just before I find out who/what it is,in the other I'm falling into a bottomless pit(this one happens only just as I'm falling asleep and usually only when I'm really overtired)

No, most of my experience seemed only for 10-15 mins... but some people get them more intense. Like i said about my friend that gets them almost everynight, to her it's like half her nights are in that state. Just because you're experience is one way doesn't mean it's the only way.

If I were sleep paralyzed for what seems like hour(s), I'd be more worried than how she's stating what had happened. I simply doubt it is.

Why would you be more worried about that? And just because you doubt something, it must be true then.

Describe your scariest dream

The one which makes me wake up in cold sweat? I get this one quite often, about once in two months. Then I'd wake up in cold sweat, shivering. It is about me comitting a crime, murder, to be exact, several murders. I do not see myself killing anyone, I just feel I did that. I need to hide, to hide somewhere from the police. I never see any dead bodies or the persons I killed, I feel terrible, mind-shattering fear that I'm gonna get caught. I think about the need to hide body remnants. But where? And why did I kill them? That isn't contained in my dreams, neither the body remnants are. The dream never ends with the police coming, in fact, there are no other persons or even objects except of me. I think about how young I am and that I'd never be able to get out of the prison. It's over. Finita la comedia. And I don't frigging understand why I did that. I think... hadn't I done that, all could still be well. After all, until up to now I had not the worst life in the world by far, it's a shame to complain. But now everything is over. Forever. And then I wake up in cold sweat, happy to realize that the police isn't up to get me with charges... And that all that had been just a dream. And then I feel huge relief.

Let's play odds here. I'm not saying I'm right... never have I. You keep putting words in my mouth.

I had a dream that I murdered someone once. It freaked me OUT so bad I woke up and wasn't sure if it had really happened or not. (did it happen and then my subconscious blocked it out??) For a couple of days I STILL wasn't sure if it WAS a dream or a suppressed memory! Then I put two and two together and realized some things about the dream COULDN'T have been real.

actually seems some of the scariest dreams are actually AFTER you wake up from a GREAT dream and then realize it was just a dream... so much better in comparison to real life -_-

edit: It just occured to me its sorta like that feeling you get... one milk commercial where that guy was so happy with the cookie, but there was no milk, captures that feeling sorta

I had a dream where my best friend was shot and killed in a freak bar fight. I watched him die. It was the most vivid, and realistic dream I've ever had. I woke up in tears, and wasn't feeling "right" for several days afterwards.

Not a cool experience.

i've had plenty of scary dreams, but its too hard to put how it felt into words, and it would kind of "cheapen" the feeling i get from thinking about them, which is something i cherish. dreams, that is.

First, I have had sleep paralysis alot not too long ago, and it only last mins, but freaks me out, no way I could last an hour, let alon hours going through that.

Second, here is the freakest/ scariest dream I have ever had. To understand it, you have to understand how my house is set up, I like on top of a hill, with the house set up right along the hill, with a steep wooded side behind it that ends in a stream. I have dreams we are at war, and being chased. I try and run through the woods (only I run like an animal, on all 4s) and try to escape. We (there is always someone with me) run and basically tumble down the hill towarsd the stream, and they are always so close. We hide alot, then finally make it to the stream to try and have them lose their sent. It's weird, but I almost don't feel like a human, more like an animal being hunted (ever heard of the most dangerous game?) It just wakes me up in a total panic. And Ihave had the dream probably more then 10x.

i had one nightmare back in middle school, where for some reason everyone was out back and a truck came over the grass hill and ran a bunch of people over...and everyone was like...daydreaming so i just walked away...more weird than nightmarish

One scary one involved me fighting another kid at my school fighting over his gf (she was balled up in the corner crying...he did something, i can't remember). i beat him in about 2 seconds, he had a knife on him, but i managed to use the locks on the lockers to knock him out cold...cant remember the rest. It's scary when it involves people you know.

One i don't like involved me sleeping in a sleeping bag next to the floor in a house like mine but someone else's...i was laying right outside the bathroom and a girl from school was leaning over the counter in the bathroom...naked...and somehow i walked in...naked too, and I can't remember anything else about it

I've had a few ones that have woken me up and i was very "upset".

One involves my GF's little girl. All it is is me in a church(something that never happens in real life) and I'm at a funeral. there is a casket at the front of the place, and me and my GF's friends and family are there.(what makes it even scarier is that my GF's mom is there and at the time of the dream i had never met nor seen a pic of her, yet in the dream she was almost excatly as she was when i met her) Anyways, i sit there in the seats listening to the preacher or whoever talk and i'm not understanding what's being said, but eventually i walk up to the casket and in it is Ge(my GF's daughter), well at the point i lose it and i start looking around for my GF, and i can't find her. I finally find out that she has been dead for 6 month and that i have been taking care of Ge cause there was no one else that could. this is when i woke up just balling my eyes out.

My only other dream that has woken me up is one that is a reoccuring dream that i have about once every 6 months. It involves me in highschool, and an earthquake happens( i live in texas so this is strange) and all these demons come flying out of the crack in the floor of the school. As the dream progresses the imagery turns from realistic to surreal and scarry. demons are killing people left and right, eventually military people show up,but they're some kinda elite force that hunts monsters. so they are cabable of killing a bunch of them but they get wiped out. eventually, i run across some of their weapons and i start going after the demons and stuff.
All the while the crack in the floor continues to expand and swallow up more of the school. at one point i am outside and the sky is pitch black and volcanos have begun errupting all over the place. The sky is black and the Moon is out but it is red. People are crying and giant creatures are now roaming around. Then i realize that earth is being sucked into hell and the school was the starting point. I feel a tapping on my shoulder and as i turn around there is a hooded figure that tells me that everything will be ok, and that it is not as bad as it looks, as the figure starts to remove his hood is when i wake up.

I've had this dream for a long, long time, going on 12 years now, and i have never seen this persons face.

One time I had a dream where we were cruising down a federal highway and suddenly a tour guide appears in the car and points out the area in detail. Next thing, our side of the 4-lane highway merges into the other, but we continue, and we end up on dirt. The dirt road becomes this huge highway again with a large suspension bridge...

We start climbing up the bridge, and our speed seems to be slowing: 55mph, 45mph, etc. The tour guide explains that many people stall at the very middle of the bridge, and lightning comes down and kills many people. The car continues stalling, and we freak out.

We approach 0mph at the middle of the bridge, not knowing what to do, and....the alarm clock goes off.

I remember falling off buildings in dreams when I was a kid. I got this really unique spinny/dizzy feeling that spun me awake and left me like that for half an hour or more.
