I liked it. I didn't think it was groundbreaking TV or the greatest show ever, but I'll definitely keep watching.

I hope the Pres says "WE'RE RUNNING OUT OF TIME" sometime though.

I watched it. It was OK at best. Time will tell.

I DID think it was a blatant rip-off of Tom Clancy's work...except when he killed the entire government (except Jack Ryan) he did it with a disgruntled Japan Air Lines plane and pilot.

Otherwise, pretty much the same basic scenario.

I loved the idea of "President Jack Bauer", but this character they came up with doesn't seem to be badass enough to pull it off.
La Femme Nikita got Jack's back as FBI.

but the show is throwing so many plots at us, it's overwhelming.

sure, it makes us feel what's it like to be in his shoes.
but overload makes me not want to watch it.

plus the Republicans picked their own designated survivor?
who just happens to be Majority Whip?
the thought of backstabbing Frank Underwood (who was Whip b4 becoming unelected Pres) immediately came to mind.

I watched the pilot and they didn't waste anytime injecting plot possibilities such as with the Admiral wanting to perform a coup. I thought that the mine in the rubble was weak sauce as it doesn't even begin to have the kind of power or explosion necessary to bring down a building and its too obvious to be missed by a routing patrol of the area. Only time will tell if the writers are up to the task and make it shine.

(had to look up the titles)

The end of Debt of Honor was when the JAL pilot crashed into the US Capitol bldg, killing everyone except Ryan...who had just been named to be the Vice President. Executive Orders starts the Ryan presidency.

I've been a Clancy fan for over 30 years and have read all his non-fiction stories...but skipped most of the junk "co-written by" Tom. (Which is usually just a way for new authors to get tbeir names out there)

Yeah, however, Clancy's work is much better.
So far, they are hitting all the buzz words (enhanced interrogation, profiling, curfew, false flag... and so on) right on cue.
Really unimpressed at the direction this show is heading in.

The ads make it look interesting but I'm always hesitant to start watching a new show. What's the verdict so far?

Good premise for the show but too much SJW garbage in the plotline to stay with it. Last episode my wife says with disappointment in her voice, "So he's not going to shoot anyone in the ankle?" We've bailed on this one.

Jack Bauer and Nikita are the only reasons I'm watching it at this point. I liked the premise at first but it's starting to get weak.

In this latest episode I see several plots lining up against the new president which have the potential to spice up the show. Now the lone survivor of the blast was digitally placed in the room with the rest of them on the internal security cameras when in fact he was the only member not present in the chamber during the explosion adds to the drama.

We watched the first two episodes and liked it enough to keep going. I'm sure a lot of that is Jack Bauer nostalgia, but we'll give it the season at least.

Pretty much this, the show had lots of potential, but they are going out of their way to rub everyone's face into what they are peddling, which brings lots of eye rolling going on watching this show.
It is pretty much what I wrote before.

Funny thing is, part of this plot line seems to have been lifted from 24 in season 6 when they tried to frame Hamri al-Assad, and other seasons as well.

I hope the show is modeling the Whip after Frank Underwood. What party does the found house member belong to?

Don't know yet but you can already see the congresswoman, Republican, angling to run against the new president.

Interesting.. the congressman that survived the blast turns down speaker of the house run.
Now the Pres wants him for VP.

Psych ops?
Bad guys gambling the Pres would do this?

Or is this congressman innocent?
He just happened by dumb luck go to the modified blast resistant room just as the bomb went off.

If so, now the question is was there anyone else in that room 105?

Series cannot by definition have resolution only conflict and drama until Finale.
Lost, Mash, Gunsmoke, X Files and so forth.

The show kinda sucks. It's your typical network show...bland as hell.
Yeah, and I wonder how long they are going to stretch this show, I can't see it lasting more than 2 seasons.

Really unimpressed with this show, and the direction it is heading.

Not remotely true. Even if you discount shows that reboot each season (Fargo, American Horror, True Detective, etc) there are many many examples of series that will have a unique story arc that is resolved every season. Think of shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Supernatural, Archer, The League, 24, Homeland etc. Each has a recurring set of characters that become involved in a new main conflict that is followed for a season, tied up and then another new arc starts the following season.
