Desk job people, how much do you work out?

I, like many people, have a desk job where I sit down for my whole day at a computer and get no activity at work. How much do other people here who are in the same situation work out every day? I'm at a healthy lean weight and have a good diet but I'm worried about my heart getting enough exercise.

I have a long commute via public transportation each day so I do get a short walk in on each end of my commute and sometimes go for a walk at lunch. After work I run about 3 miles or do a short cardio strength workout. Is this enough? I don't anticipate my career ever involving much physical activity.

My job requires me to sit in from of my PC but I also take a lot of opportunities to walk around the office. Even if it's just to go get some water or check in on things with other employees.

After work I typically work out 4-6 days per week doing cardio and weights.

Same type of job, but i stand at work instead of sit, most of the time. I stand on the bus and i take the stairs and do all that i can to move mybody. I also jog 3 times a week.

I ride my bike to work all year except for during the winter.

That keeps me in OK shape.

monday - thursday is my weight lifting routine.

on the weekends (when it's not snowing and/or cold out) i am very active in football leagues in the spring/fall, and i also go fishing a lot which requires a lot of walking.

6x a week, sometimes daily depending on the programming I'm doing and how jiu-jitsu is going or upcoming meets/tournaments etc.

Same here, 5x week and get up and walk around as much as I can. Usually I go to someone's office instead of calling them or emailing them.

Tuesday thru Thursday I'm in the office. During lunch, I try to walk for at least 2 miles and usually I'll wander about the city at a brisk pace for about 45 minutes.

Monday and Friday I work from home. during my lunch hour (when its not raining or freezing outside) I'll go for either a 2 mile run at around 7 min\mile or a 4-5 mile run @ 8min\mile.

During the weekends, I'll run anywhere from 6-13 miles, usually in the 8 min\mile area. I'm in a hilly area so its nice challenging run.

On Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights am at the gym lifting. Anywhere from 60 minutes to 120 minutes.

With all this snow, my running has taken a nosedive but the side benefit is that I was able to go heavier on lifts. (Squats, deadlifts, Press, Bench and all the little supporting exercises)

I'm 40 and have been working behind a desk for a long time. I've never been out of shape and I'm currently in the best shape of my life

I alternate between 4-5x a week. I mainly just lift. But I should add that I tend to go the gym for 9 months, then take 3 off (winter) months off.

I, like many people, have a desk job where I sit down for my whole day at a computer and get no activity at work.

in addition to adding cardio / lifting, you may want to research if you could convert to a standing desk. i did this, and i like it a lot better than sitting all day. there are a lot of options and prices ranges on ways to do this, but i now spend about 75% of my workday standing and the rest sitting.

i can also stretch, flex, etc a lot more and a lot more easily. just a quick few minutes of hopping from foot to foot, or a few lunges, or some calf raises... feels good to stretch out a bit.

Like many of the others here, I have what would be considered a desk job, although I find ways to walk around between different areas whenever I have the chance. I work out 5 days/week, usually in the morning before heading to my job, for about 70-75 minutes per workout.

I sit or stand at work, I work in IT do I pretty much just stay in once place.. Honestly just "standing" isn't much better than sitting but at least I've got the option. I work out 6-7 times a week. I've been doing weights + 15-20 minutes of HIIT most days. If I don't get a chance to do HIIT in the morning I'll some some slow steady type cardio in the evening 25-35 minutes if I can fit it in.

I'm down about 95 (280 to 185lbs) in the last two years. I've gone up 10 then dropped 10, twice since. I lifted but didn't do much cardio. So far so good as I'm back down to 185 from 195. I'm going to keep doing this for a few more months and see where it goes.

Actually, research shows that standing is infinitely better than sitting for your overall health. Standing reduces risk of diabetes, hypertension, and other health issues compared to sitting for a desk job.

Pretty much 3x a week. Still doing SL. I also do some shoulder exercises on off days but been really slacking on that for the past month. Very little/no cardio.

Perhaps, I had hopes my self.. I've been at this job for a little over 6 months, and stand most of the time. I have continued to exercise, but I haven't noticed anything different. I'd like to note its still a deskjob. I don't move except to re position my feet from time to time, I'm not moving or walking around in any manner. I try to make a point to walk a little over a mile at lunch but that doesn't happen a lot now that its winter.
