I was wondering the same thing as broadwayblue. Has anyone heard anything new on our rebate status? A question to all the 930C owners: Does your printer power up when you queue a task to it and it's powered down (USB setup)?

I experience some delay, but it is definately not 15 minutes. Seems to take about 30sec to 1min from the time I click print till the time the printer starts doing something. I assume this is the delay with the electronic vault. Overloaded servers should have nothing to do with printing, as you don't have to be online to print postage.

The comment about setting the parralel port to standard seems strange. Doesn't standard only allow outbound communication? I have mine set to ECP, and it works fine.

I've used e-stamp and the printer, both though parallel and USB. Works great. Currently I even have the printer hooked up to two computers. My win2k box goes to the USB port and my win98 box (used for the e-stamp software, among other things) goes to the parallel port. Works fine, except you must powercycle the printer if you want to switch from printing from one port to the other.

My e-stamp v1.1(it also asked me to upgrade when I installed it, but then told me nothing to upgrade) and electronic vault work well with my Epson 660 printer. I never met any delay in printing postage. However, today I forgot to turn on the printer before I opened the e-stamp program, a window popped up saying it couldn't find the vault. I restarted the program but this time with printer already turned on, no warning and any delay. (I connected my printer to vault then to LPT port) Maybe this is the reason for some people who couldn't set up the vault. Does it mean vault need to be "turned on" first?

I had a similar problem. I was on the phone (with a VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE support guy - he even called me back TWICE) for over an hour. Finally it was determined that my printer PORT just would not work with e-Stamp. FYI I have a PIII-933 system (a new ASUS CUV4X board). I went as far as running the system down as slow as it would go (down to 100mhz FSB) and still NOTHING worked. The vault WAS always recognized for test stamp (printed fine) and $$$ amount but would not print real postage. I found a plain old ISA PRINTER CARD (about 5 years old) and attached the vault to it and it now works first time every time at any CPU speed. No matter how I had set the CPU speed or the onboard printer port type (EPP, B-DI, PLAIN) it wouldn't print a stamp (kept timing out and/or locking up). The new (old) ISA LPT card worked fine. That tells me that there is going to be a lot of printer port problems which the tech did confirm. The tech did tell me there is a SECOND service pack coming out soon that is supposed to address some of these problems. Right now, even with V1.1 you need to get service pack 1 (it was an automatic download for me).

Now if I can only get me FREE stamps.com serial port scale to work with e-Stamp that would be neat.

Hey guys I am running Win2000 and the vault is not working with my PC. Anyone else had this problem and gotten it corrected? As for E-Stamps they told me it wouldn't work with Win2000 and they told me to downgrade to Win98. Hahah......right....I actually have 2000 running stable and it is quicker and better than 98. Oh well...guess I am screwed unless some of you have figured out how to make it work. Open to any suggestions other than backing down to Win98.

Karoth,

I don't mean to sound bad here, but why don't you actually read the thread before you post.

1) It's been extended to 7/31.
2) They are starting to ship.
3) Email them and they'll say you have past the 31st anyhow.

That's all in this very thread.

Good Luck.

Has anyone seen their EBATES rebate posted from BUY.COM yet ??? I've had three others from weeks after from other stores confirmed but NOTHING from BUY.COM (I have a 6% and a 3% outstanding including the eStamp/HP deal). I have written them twice .... no response. And YES, I did CLICK THROUGH eBates.

The response I received from Ebates said that it could take up to a month, depending on the vendor, to have the transaction posted. Same as what's in their FAQ.

MisterEd: Did you e-mail buy.com or ebates about the delay in the ebate showing up? An order I placed through ehobbies never showed up, so I emailed ebates and asked them what was up. The responded quickly and said I didn't go through them first to get to ehobbies. I emailed back saying that I did and then they requested I email them a copy of my reciept. The correct rebate amount was posted to my account the next day. Overall, the back and forth emails were about 3 total and took 3 days. I was very impressed with ebates customer service.

On the buy.com order, the ebate appeared after a couple weeks, but it was listed as the wrong amount. They credited me 3% (the current buy.com rebate amount) while the rebate at my time of order was 6%. One email to ebates got this corrected.

KCobra: Yes, I emailed them twice and got no response. What worried me was I made 2 purchases @ -20% from OURHOUSE.COM and had the rebates credited within 1 day of receipt of merchandise which was 48 hrs from placing order. Aside from the posting of rebates, have you ever gotten any actual $$$$$ from any of these folks (eBates, Bizrate etc?). I'm anxioulsy awaiting $172 from Bizrate from last quarter.

I've received two rebate checks from ebates.com and one from Pointclick.com.

They posted the wrong amount for my Buy.com printer order because Buy.com had to separate the order into two "sub-orders" when the HP930c was backordered. I had this corrected within a week of emailing them.

I also can not get the e-stamp program to print via USB connection. I have a VIA 133A motherboard, WIN98SE, and a HP930 if this matters. I can print normal stuff no problem but not stamps via USB. Just for kicks I hooked up a old lazer printer with a parallel cable and e-stamp prints just fine. Any ideas?

Well, after another (my 3rd) hour and a half long session with E-Stamp, my printer still takes 10 minutes to print a stamp and they say there is NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE -- In fact they said that the 930c printer does not work well with their software and suggested that I go back to my HP 710c hooked up through the parallel port. What a solution ! I asked why they bundled this deal with the 930C if it does not work and of all things, he said "That was Buy.Com's idea." WHAT A JOKE ! All three CS/Tech Support people have tried the same things to get it to print faster adn none have made any difference. IMHO this software SUCKS. I will try my old printer and see what happens. I am concerned I cannot get it to work since I tried hoking up my 930c last night through the parallel port and could not get it to print ANYTHING -- not even a test page. The computer found the new hardware, so it was communicating throught the port, but when tried to print, the printer could not find the port. (and yes I did uninstall the drivers before I hooked the printer up to the parallel port and resinstalled everything).

JJordan,

Just cancel your e-stamp account and they will mail you a check for your unused postage. Buy real stamps with the cash, and enjoy your free printer.

Central:

Woah, they'll do that? All I have to do is cancel my account and they'll send me a check for the unused postage? If so, where did you find this out? Do you have a web page for reference?

Thanks in advance

JJordan, I agree with e-stamp software comments, this is pure crap.
My 930c seems to take longer to spool, via USB, than my 820 did. But e-stamp takes forever. My 1st stamp printed quicky, did the update and now I have to just walk away. I haven't tried to print parallel yet. BTW: WinSE, P!!!@866, 128 RAM. If anyone finds a work-around, LMK.

Hey,

I just ran the e-stamps update and it updated me to 1.1 sp2.

Maybe that will help some of your printing problems.

Good Luck.

FastEddieG-

I just read the manual FAQ's. (I know, but I was looking for this answer). It clearly states that you can return your dongle at anytime, and get reimbursed for any unused postage, without qualification.

I have not returned my e-stamps dongle, however. I will note I did get $50 of stamps.com postage when they were running their promotion, and I called to cancel when my one month was up. The CSR told me I would receive a check for unused postage, except for "promotional" (i.e., free) postage. This was stamps.com, not e-stamps; e-stamp FAQ does not address this issue, and we did, in a sense pay for the postage in the software purchase price, so I can see e-stamp having a different policy. I think I'll call them to verify this.

This HP930c/e.stamp/dongle combo/ is slower than molasses in February!!!

I thought it was my fault.

My system has a Celeron 566 at 851 with 128 megs of pc100 cas 2. The HP930 c is on the parallel printer port.
