I got the email, but checking the web I'm still on track for 12/24 shipment. Hmm...

My ship date had been slippe dto 2/28 but I just checked and the order now says "Call for latest ETA".
I'd rather call for "earliest ETA"!

Anyone call for their latest ETA?

I called Dell today because my order was cancelled, tons of other
people are apparently getting theirs, and I see that the cards
are back in stock at Dell...(at $9.95).

The woman I talked to disappeared for quite a while, and when she
came back on the phone she told me that my order was cancelled because
this was a pricing mistake (according to her supervisor). When I told
her that LOTS of other people were getting their cards at the
listed price, she told me that was not possible and that "we cancelled
all those orders". I said no, that was not correct and then she
offered to sell me the cards for 25% off the current price of $9.95.
Told her no thanks and hung up.

Dell sucks.

My 3 PCI cards arrived yesterday, with my PCMCIA card and network switch having arrived Friday. I busily set up my new MegaNerdNet between my Win 95 desktop and my Win 98 Dell lappie.

After hours of work, the Win 98 lappie works great and sees all the file systems on the desktop. The desktop claims to not belong to any network, and network neighborhood does not work. But I can do a "run" on the Win 95 machine using the laptop name and it opens and shows the lappy's file systems and two printers!

Maybe the Win 95 networking just ain't up to snuff.

But, the hardware from Dell is doing its job so I'm reasonably happy. MegaNerdNet is being set up in preparation for the arrival of a Win XP desktop sometime in the near future. (Maybe I should cobble together a Win ME machine as well to have a complete set!!)

Thanks, all, but my delivery states that it was delivered "already" on May 8, 2001.... to a location in Lufkin, TX US, which was before the pricing deal and I don't live in Lufkin...did any of you have this show on your UPS tracker? All my tracker shows is that it was shipped on January 9, 2002. The DELL site says that it is waiting for pickup on January 10th...Gosh, the fact that the UPS shows a delivery already to Lufkin on May 8 leads me to think this might still be a bogus screw up.

I had that happen with a package once, it seems like they re-used a UPS label or somehow the same tracking # was assigned.

Likewise, on an order of USB NICs, the UPS tracking number they gave me showed Delivered in March of 2000. This stayed at the bottom of my detail status during the entire delivery process, which by they way got to my city, was not attempted to be delivered though they sent it out on the truck and ended up being returned to Dell. Gotta luv it!

Thanks for all the "repeat uses of tracking number" stories. I certainly hope that will be the case, but I looked at my AMEX private payments number and it still shows that the card hasn't been "Posted" to DELL, yet. I'll just have to sit back and wait to see if others start posting that they're getting theirs...or maybe I'll be posting that a UPS funky-dark-chocolate-brown truck showed up and left a 4 lb. box on my doorstep. Does DELL require a signature on their stuff? Thanks, boys and girls.

To all the people who did not or will not get thier cards, the bottom line is that you ordered too late!!! You cannot bitch if Dell does not honor the price...I had given up on this deal but then to my amazement two boxes full of nics arrived yesterday!!! If I had not gotten the cards i would not have been pissed at Dell.

Don't jump the gun there.
Many who are not getting these ordered well before others that have received theirs.
Look at the order numbers.
The date/time order was placed has nothing to do with if you will get your cards, and that sucks.
I was one of the early ones to order, and still listed as call for ETA.

I've never had a signature required on UPS deliveries from Dell. The UPS guy just leaves it, though my UPS delivery values mostly have not exceeded $100. Well, except for the Sony DSC-85 they left on my front porch!! (7 p.m. I'm on the computer - BAM BAM BAM from the front door. I open the door, find the box, and note the UPS truck high-balling it down the street.)

Some of my higher value Dell stuff has come via Airborne, which does want a signature, so I've picked that up at the airport office here.

I hope yours will come soon. I'm happy I got in on the deal!

Dell requires a signature for all UPS shipments regardless of the value. (read their FAQs) If your UPS guy is leaving your parcels, either you have a prior release agreement on file with UPS or the driver just does not care. Either way, if your shipment is lost after a delivery is noted in the UPS tracking system, Dell will not be liable and good luck getting a reshipment or your money back.

This deal is so very, very dead. Last I heard, they raised the prices to $10.
