If the deal is dead, could we please get a moderator to change the topic of the post to put a [DEAD] in it please? Not nessasarily locking it down since people have been posting what happening on thier order, but a [DEAD] Would help prevent my hopes from getting up

<< Does DELL require a signature on their stuff? Thanks, boys and girls. >>

I've never had a signature required on UPS deliveries from Dell. The UPS guy just leaves it, though my UPS delivery values mostly have not exceeded $100. Well, except for the Sony DSC-85 they left on my front porch!! (7 p.m. I'm on the computer - BAM BAM BAM from the front door. I open the door, find the box, and note the UPS truck high-balling it down the street.)
>>

Dell requires a signature for all UPS shipments regardless of the value. (read their FAQs) If your UPS guy is leaving your parcels, either you have a prior release agreement on file with UPS or the driver just does not care. Either way, if your shipment is lost after a delivery is noted in the UPS tracking system, Dell will not be liable and good luck getting a reshipment or your money back.
>>

GetReal - That may be in the FAQ, but the boxes I have received from Dell through UPS do NOT have the signature required paperwork. (I've still got the boxes - if you don't believe me, drive to Alabama and I will show them to you.) This includes the two boxes I received in the past two weeks - one with the Ethernet hub and PCMCIA card, and the second box with 3 PCI NIC cards.

When I have gotten packages from other vendors with signature required, UPS has always insisted upon a signature at delivery. That usually requires me to go pick up the package at the UPS station.

I am familiar with UPS signature required labelling, and the four packages I have gotten from Dell via UPS in the last four months HAVE NOT had signature required.

For that matter, the 3 FedEd packages I've gotten from Dell in the last year have been left without signature required.

The only instances I know of when signature has been required from Dell has been friends getting desktop and monitors via UPS, or my laptop and docking station coming in through Airborne. All of those required signatures.

Yo,
***THEY ARE LONG GONE, DON'T EMAIL/PM ASKING FOR THEM ANYMORE, THANKS!***
If anyone needs some and doesn't feel like waiting, I kinda overbought.
I got 10 but hell if I'll even use 5 of them.
***THEY ARE LONG GONE, DON'T EMAIL/PM ASKING FOR THEM ANYMORE, THANKS!***
So I got 5 for $2 each (not worth my time for the $1 original charge, to go to the post office), but you'll have to pay for S&H. ***THEY ARE LONG GONE, DON'T EMAIL/PM ASKING FOR THEM ANYMORE, THANKS!***

they had this deal before. I would suspect all your orders to be cancelled because they dont have anymore stock. Believe me it will be cancelled makes no sense to make the same mistake 2 times in a row.

Placed On: 12/11/01
Shipped On: 01/16/02

********** Please NOTE! **********
Your order has completed shipping preparation and should be picked up by the carrier within one business day of the indicated ship date.

I got 20 of them for my 8 computers/firewall...

I would just like to say that Dell took the right coarse of action shipping these out at that price. In the past I have promoted Dell as a good company - all my dealings with them have been good so far. In the long run this policy of honoring our orders will help Dell gain customers. If it didn't ship I probably would not promoted them to people I know. Dell's best friend is "word of mouth" in this industry.

Just got this e-mail, and sent them my "consent" to continue the order:

<< Dear Dell Customer,

We have reviewed your order # XXXXXXXXX, and although we had anticipated
being able to ship your Belkin 10/100 NIC Card sooner, we are experiencing
an unexpected delay and we will not be able to ship your order until
3/22/02. We need your consent to continue your order. Please be aware that
unless we receive your consent via reply to this e-mail by 01/22/02, we are
required by law to cancel your order and provide you with a prompt refund.

We are making every effort to contact you for your consent to continue your
order. Once we have received your consent, we will move forward on shipping
your Dell order.

You are a valuable customer, and we are aware of the inconvenience and
apologize for the delay.

Thank you,

Dell Software And Peripherals

I just got the same email from them.

Kinda sneaky the way that they sent this email with a one day reply to them. I don't know
what possessed me to check this email account today. After tomorrow it would be too late.

I offered my "consent" to wait for the cards. Still a good deal if they come through.

Just received the "We need your consent to continue your order" email also, they sent it out kinda late, wonder why they didn't wait till late this evening to send it out, say around 11:55 PM :disgust:

But I sent my reply already saying "You have my consent to continue my order until I receive them.

Got same email. This PCI cards are great! They are tiny! I wonder if they'll fit upright in a 1U server. Looks close.

There is a Federal law whereby mail order shipments have to occur within 7 (i think) days after placing an order. I suspect that this is what Dell is referring to.

This period is eliminated when they have a concent to extend thiis period.

This has been in effect long before the Internet btw. An old postal regulation. It was designed to stop abuse by mail order shippers.

Not to say that I wouldn't have tried something similar to get out of such a profit loss as they will suffer, but it was admittidly a little bit sneaky the way that they waited until 12:05PM to send me this...allowing me 11hrs and 54 minutes to reply. An alright deal for ppl who used their real email address and can ck. it hourly...but for those using junkmail accounts...man...I feel sorrrrrry for them!

anyone else receive this email later than 12:05PM?

God Bless

I received the email @ 2:55 PM I agree, if they were to just admit it was a huge pricing error and just cancel the orders, fine. But dont F@$& around and get sneaky, or the wrath of the allmighty anander's will set in

Same email received here. I got it at 15:49. However, I understood it to say that before end of day 1/22 I must provide consent, not as soon as the clock strikes 1/22. Either way, I have provided the consent.
