Anyone else in this situation? I have now received the oh-so-sorry-letter-can't-possibly-ship-these-5-NICs-until-2/28/2002, letter, too. BUT, I used the American Express Card-don't leave home without it - private payment number....a proprietary one time use number that AMEX generates for fraud protection like ordering on the internet. These number expire automatically after 30 days (or maybe 60 days) after they are generated....
so guess when 2/28 falls...greater than 60 days.
BUT, the best one was from the American Express customer service person: "So, why don't you call DELL and give them your regular card number. That should be an easy way of resolving this problem." Well, that brought a warm glow to my soul...LOL.
...so after waiting on the phone for an hour or more, I'm supposed to attempt to materially change an order (something that shouldn't be a material change, but if DELL is looking for any excuse to avoid the order, it brings up the material change in terms and bingo, cancels order). Any first year student would recognize that substituting another number from the same credit card company wouldn't materially alter the terms of the purchase contract, but in the heat of the deal, how inopportune. Thank goodness it's DELL that's changing the original terms...I really am not looking forward to waiting on the phone for an hour to speak to someone about 5 NICs, only to have them say OK...CANCEL.
