Depends what you're doing with it. 6 cores on the AMD system will help with encoding and other heavily threaded tasks, i7 is probably better for gaming.

You're going to get a lot of people telling you to build your own, and I'd agree with that, $1500 is expensive for either of those systems at least in the US. Not sure about hardware prices in India.

Right now you can get comparable performance to both those systems at almost a third of the price if you built one yourself.

$1500 is not expensive, it's a ripoff.

At a little under half the price I got:

Antec 300 case
AMD X2 555
MSI 790X-G45 mainboard
4GB 7-7-7 1333 1.35v RAM
ATI 5770
Dell 2209wa IPS 22"
24x/48x DVD/CD burner
OCZ 500w PSU
Logitech G5 mouse / random $15 keyboard.

Already had win7 pro and wd 640gb hdd. A lot of this stuff was used too, so add on another 2GB of RAM, 6 core CPU and blu-ray burner + overhead for 'new' stuff (since I doubt the used market in India is that great) and the price isn't that absurd, but he could probably save between $300-400.

Guys, he's in India, you really cannot compare to US prices. He may not be getting ripped off at all.

Those prices are a joke build your own computer.

Or get someone else to build it for you. Lots of computer stores in my city will assemble the computer for you if you pay an extra $50.

The place where I bought my computer parts will assemble the CPU+mobo+ram for free. Their explanation is that it's easier to test it before it leaves the store. That way they don't need to deal with doa product returns, and they're 100% certain the product worked before the customer started fucking with it and changing the voltages.

At a little under half the price I got:

AMD X2 555
Dude wtf. The OP lists a computer that is an AMD 6-core processor and your system has an AMD 2-core processor. It's not even close.

This, and it doesn't even cost $50 for labor. The things you need to look out for are PSU, aftermarket cooler and a case. Most of the PSU's available in India are not even second rate quality so go for a trusted brand and chose your picks carefully. Aftermarket cooler is a must for the temps we have in the south.

This is a good place to start. It will give you an idea regarding the prices.

Didn't see that 22' monitor on his list.

CPU = $200 6core
Ram = $100 4gig DDR3 1600
Mobo + Sound = $80
Video = 4850/4870 for $100 (current video cards are overpriced)
PSU + Case = 100 (being generous)
DVD/CD-RW = 20-30 bucks.

So about six hundred or so would take care of the box.

$100 for windows seven home and a bunch left over for a monitor ($300 for the 22' would put him at an even $1,000, that's 500 off ...) No clue what impact being in india has on price's though.

Is this a gaming computer? If you're just using this thing for video encoding and watching porn on the internet, you can use the integrated video and save quite a bit of money.

You won't be able to overclock or adjust anything meaningful in the motherboard. If you decide you want to overclock or otherwise modify advanced BIOs features. fat chance.

Pls suggest me a gigabyte mother board with onboard graphics,USB 3.0,HDMI Out and SATA 6

buy a gtx 240 nvidia card. $99 US about as cheap as they come and great performance. you should be able to get back $50 on the cost of a motherboard with those features and non integrated video.

Ie you'll invest $50 more but get 2x the performance. the 240 card supports 3rd party GPU accelration of encoding and it really makes a big difference on handling compression and video audio etc.

I am sure if you offered someone here $50-75 dollars to assemble you a system plus parts and shipping they could build you a nice computer.

BTW whats your local power gird voltage and stability like ?

You guys are telling him to build a system without giving him resources on how one does it.

OP, go on youtube and search for desktop computer assembly.

Watch the video's and see how they set up a computer.

Its like a model, things will only fit in certain places.
Before you go the DYO route, spend a couple of hours in youtube and watch different builds.

When you think you got the gist of it, then start buying parts and building.
Dont buy parts first, and then expect to get perfect help.

Research before you do ANYTHING!.
