ok for some time now, my g/f system if either she or I create a shortcut on the desktop when you go to click it it says that you dont have permision blah blah you all know the error.
BUT if a program makes the icon most of the time the link works fine. but not always.
nothing else does this, only shortcuts on the desktop.
she/I are the administrators on this machine and for the life of me i cant make this silly thing stop doing it.
Ive only seen this happen one other time in my working with XP, and for the life of me i cant recall what it was that fixed it.
I have tried everything including the compatability, running as a different user, and everything i can think of, even changing the permisions for the desktop which really dont matter since the user is an administrator.
one thing ill check and i usually fix it right after installing windows is that when you create a user and make it an admin, it automatically keeps the "User" group as part of the Group that the user belongs to, but i typically delete that and simply make it a Member of the Administrators Group.
Does anyone know what causes this and what the fix may be ?
many thanks in advance.
sorry Windows XP SP2
