Prices on the site you linked are already different than what you copy/pasted here, they must've changed them. ...which makes me skeptical they have real pricing info. They now have the A10-5800K at $140.
Assuming its CPU performance is on par with an i3-3220, that's a tremendous value.
But comparring AMDS top end desktop to lowend IB is a bit off the cuff.
Price you pay for a product and the price paid over its useful life 5 years. Is the only true metric. Its like a car that sells for 16,000 that gets 20 miles to gallon highway Vs 20,000 car that gets 30 miles highway. over the course of 5 years the cheaper car was no bargin.
When will Anand get some of these real retail chips to conduct benchmarks on? I would like to see comparisons with liano and the Intel
Wanna see if it is worth waiting for the Trinity A8-5600 or even an A10 vs a $99 ($89 with code) A8-3850.
Not a game player but do do a small bit of video encoding for lectures I work on.
Probably not until NDA lifts. AMD has kept their CPUs very close to the vest of late, and generally has not released for even a preview before the NDA lifts. That's been their mantra for a while, the good with the bad. No criticism is intended here.
