Desktop Wallpaper

OK, this is wierd. Recently my desktop started adding EVERYTHING in the My Pictures folder to the desktop wallpaper selections in Display Properties where you can normally pick tulips, bliss, follow, and all the other ones. Ive seen like "internet wallpaper" in there when I change to a jpeg or bmp for wallpaper outside display propereties but never seen this. Now I just got my new laptop and put a few pics in the fresh and empty my pictures folder and it does the same thing. Its no big deal other than the fact that my My Pictures folder is where I keep about 400 family pics. Makes for a long wallpaper selection list in display properties. Im just concerned cuz it just started to do it on my desktop of 4 years and also does it on my new lappy. Like maybe a function that came in thru a winders update or sumthin.......

Any ideas???? If theres a setting somewhere, Ive never seen it.

Sorry. I meant to add that they are both Win XP Home SP2 Build 2600. Ya I know where the edit button is. I just thought after 9 views Id secretly throw a bump in there, too. Anyone?

But I wonder why it would all of a sudden start. Never did before. That scroll list under the Desktop tab is only sposed to monitor .jpg and .bmp images in two folders.....
C:\WINDOWS
-and-
C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper

I know cuz a long time ago when I learned where they were, I was trying to add pics to that list and thats when I learned that. Just really annoying with like 400 pics added in there. You can imagine. Its not supposed to be that way. I wonder if there is a tweak somewhere.....O_0

I think that the "trick" that causes the contents of My Pictures to be added to the list happens when you either use the "Browse" button on the display properties dialog to find a wallpaper that happens to be in My Pictures OR when you just right-click on a picture that resides in that directory and choose to make it a wallpaper.

It is kind of annoying that MS doesn't provide you with an easy way back out of the options, isn't it? I keep all of my non-desktop images elsewhere than My Pictures because of this feature of the OS.

Well, no. I think I may have been right about the update thing. I think the function was part of a recent update cuz this one(my HP pavilion laptop) and my pavilion dektop both are current and both do it. But my Dell isn't up to date and it doesn't do it. All three are on XP Home SP2 build 2600 and the Dell and my other pavilion, the desktop, were both loaded with the same disc. Oh well, I decided Im not too worried about it. I generally only use non-windows wallpaper and as long as I have the My Pictures, thats cool. I was just going thru it anyway cuz HP added a few awesome wallpapers.

Or you have active desktop properties enabled somehow. you can disable it to see what happens. Or try this

right click on desktop, go to arrange icon by -> in sub menu make sure you have unchecked "Lock Web Items on Desktop"
