Desperately need help

I have two rigs

1- tyan s2875 + 2 x opteron 244
1 36GB scsi hdd (system drive)
1 74GB raptor (data and backup)

2- tyan s2895 + 2 x opteron 252
1 74GB raptor (system drive)
1 250GB WD (data and backup)

a week ago my s2875 mobo died and now waiting for rma, the problem is some of the data folders in system 1 is encrypted using winxp encryption utility and i can only recover it when log on as the user when the data was encrypted.

The only way to do that is by moving both hdds from system 1 to system 2. unfortunately it wont work. everytime it boots it will halt during progress bar screen then blue screen appears for a very short time and then it reboots itself and it keeps going on. it wont even work on safe mode. i know this probably due to different components between boards, system 1 is based on amd 8000 series chipsets while system 2 is based on nforce4 pro chipsets.

anyone familiar with this kind of problem and know how to solve it?. i really need the data from that hdd desperately. thank you very much.

The only way to beable to boot into without loosing any data would be to do a repair install of windows xp.(where you go to do a normal install and it fines a current version of windows and you select R to repair)
The only thing about that is, i have never done it on a machine that has the encryption set on any folders so I would not know the outcome of that.
The repair does keep the current users and settings on them machine

Are you sure i will be able to log in as the user after windows is fixed? because if not it means all those datas will be unrecoverable. At this moment i really dont want to take any risk corrupting the user profile but at the same need the data urgently. oh god i wish i never encrypted them.

I think you can import the backup of your encryption key stuff onto the other machine and access the files. Not positive, but it would give you the opportunity to try it on copies of the data instead of the originals.

I wished i was that smart when encrypting the data. i didnt make any backup of the encryption key, or add recovery agent whatsoever. that is why the only option i have is to log in as that user.

Dahak, i tried what u suggest, unfortunately it only gave me console recovery with limited command line utilities. to be honest i totally dont know what should recover or fix. thanks by the way.
