. If it's through Battlenet, I guess that is Blizzard influence, no?
I suspect it has more to do with Activision getting tired of giving Valve 30% of every sale and wanting more control over customers. If Destiny goes well on Battle.net I won't be surprised to see a lot more Activision games joining it. That is assuming that Activision could have just used Steam for the community backend since every Activision game until now (well not the ones in the 80's, 90's, etc.) has required Steam.
In other news, I heard that Activision recently announced microtransactions that have upset some people. Supposedly they give bonuses that make the game "pay to win". I'm not sure how much I'd care since I'd never play the PvP, but it probably isn't a good sign if that is true.
