Destiny Beta

I preordered the Destiny White PS4 Bundle and got a Destiny beta code in my email. Considering I won't actually get my PS4 until Destiny's release, I'm thinking about using my Destiny beta code on my XB1 in July instead.

My question is, if I create a Bungie account and use my code as described above, will I need to create another account for my PS4 or do I use the same account? More specifically, does one account service multiple platforms?

I don't know if they use a central account for multiple platforms. It may not matter as they should be removing all character data after the beta.

When you register for the beta you can sign in using your psn or Xbox live id. You do this when you create your bungie account to register for beta.

So if you signed in and created the bungie account with your psn Id then my guess is your beta code is registered for the ps4 but you could try it on xb1.

They are going to send out an email where you pick your platform from what I understand.. You aren't locked in yet.

Does the beta code come with anything exclusive like titles or items for post release or is it purely beta gameplay.

It's just beta, modified quite a lot from the alpha from what I have read. The official ps4 edition will have extra content like characters and other missions.

Yea me either. I may try the titan character this time. I also think the missions will be different too.

I was told today that if you preorder it on Amazon they will instantly give you a code and you can then turn around and cancel the preorder on amazon. I tried it and it works so fyi in case anyone doesnt know

Yea imagine you could go to gametop put 5 bucks back and do the same thing after you register the code on the bungie website and then cancel the pre-order if you want. But Amazon is easier of course.

The beta will start on July 17 for ps3 and ps4 then take a break for maintenance on the 21st. Then pickup again for ps3, 360, ps4, xb1 on the 23rd and run until the 27th. It will startup near the beginning of the story and give you a hand full of story missions, a strike mission, and a selection of PvP crucible maps.

What do you mean? If you preordered you got in the beta so your code should be good to register on bungie's site. Or did you get a beta code from Ign or something.

Finally got around to setting up my Bungie account and using my beta code. I guess my initial worries were unfounded as you can link both PSN and XBL to your account. Just sucks I'll only get 4 days but at least it will give enough of a taste to decide whether my preordered Destiny PS4 bundle was a good idea. I think its stupid to limit the Xbox beta though. Beta is meant for network load testing and overall debugging. I would have passed on the cash Sony paid out just to make sure I had all the time I could get for testing.

True. It's only exclusive for a year though. Sony must have written a huge check to get those perks. From a revenue standpoint, it doesn't benefit Bungie for this game to appear preferential to one platform. They don't want XB1 only gamers to not buy the game because they feel like they are getting something "less".

Very smart from Sony's end though. They obviously don't have any strong, original AAA first party titles coming out until later in 2015 so they bought their way into Destiny. Who would have thought they could make a multiplatform, third party title seem almost seem like a first party title? By the time Sony's exclusive deal runs out in Fall 2015 they should have other platform exclusive titles to draw players. Very smart.

"No mans sky" if the devs can follow through with their 2015 estimate. Seems like an ambitious project though. Especially for a company of only 10 employees.

Well I selected the ps4 as the console to play the beta as requested in the email I received. It said on bungie's site we get 4 codes, enough for a fireteam. So looks like I can give one to my friend if he didn't pre order yet.

Fair enough, from what I have seen so far though it does look promising, and the concept itself seems sound enough.

I actually thought the 4 part video series Gamespot released this past week was really well done and gives good insight into the project.

So I googled for a code and I had luck - someone posted a comment somewhere just minutes before and I got a valid code added to my bungie account :awe: Selecting my platform though (PS4/Europe) tells me the download codes aren't ready yet for this region. I guess I'll need to do it in a few days?

I should be on broadband by then too. How big is the download?
