Detonator 7.17 !!!! W9x and W2K - DX8 drivers!!!!

Do remember that the first set of 6.xx detonators really sucked - performance & stability wise. Look just how much nVidia chruned out of that set! I personally can't wait

And about the Det 6.xx drivers being released with the GF2 ultra, go check out anand's articles, they're side by side. It was announced then, we're only starting to see ultra boards now....

I've tried them without a Beta version of DX8, just running DX7a and there was no difference at all in the FPS scores in Q3A.

of course there won't be any difference in Q3A.. dumbmy, since Q3A is running under OpenGL, it has nothing to do with DirectX....

I installed these on my rig with DX8 beta and I got BSOD's everytime I booted.

These drivers seems to be very bad. I do not think they are any good in Win2k. It´s much better to use the 6.47 drivers. And I do not think it´s a good idea to install dx8 rc1. It´s better to wait for the final release of dx8.

Yes NFS4 that's the resolution I was talking about. Anyway I removed the sh|t, but tried a few games with'em and it didn't seem to improve a bit.

Inside word is that they are not even BETA yet, they are PRE-BETA! Please be careful, nVidia doesn't even guarantee that they will install properly. Some features are disabled due to BUG problems. The 7.17's were not supposed to be &quot;leaked&quot; just yet.

Most people find DX8 RC1 219 perfectly stable.... I got an increase in D3D games myself. But they are still Beta and SOME people will have problems. However 7.17 are no good in Win2K. What do you expect.... they are brand new alpha drivers... they cant even be considered beta.
