I recently upgraded to a Geforce3 (from Geforce2 GTS).
I had been using 21.85 on the GTS and had no problems so I though I'd try the same for the GF3.
Everything seemed fine, until I started playing with resolutios, filtering, etc.. I noticed that performance at resolutions higher than 1024x768 dropped rappidly. I used Q3 demo to benchmark and my result was about 60fps at 1600x1200x32b default settings, texture compression On.
Kinda low, I figure it shoulda been above 100.
It seemed that while running the benchmark, there were about 10 occurences when the fps would drop to 10-30 fps. Something was whacked. I checked the openGL properties to make sure everything was default, didn't find anything. I also noticed some weird stuff when benchmarking 3dmark2001 at 1600x1200, but not at 1024x768.
Because I'm generally lazy and would rather things just worked right I downloaded and installed v22.80. Problem went away. Benchmarks all correlate to what I've read on online reviews. 22.80 seem stable so far. I like the new aniosotropic selection box.
Either I had something messed up in the driver setttings that wasn't going away, the driver install was messed up, or 21.85 has a problem with 1600x1200.
Anyone else see anything like this before?
