The Typhoon is about as bad a spoiler as the unstoppable cube in Doom III (use us x6 - kill). If you have a lot of energy points you can plow through just about anything. i think the devs made it overpowered.
:whiste:

As for the cutscenes, *SAVE* immediately before a boss battle (and if you hate replays) save regularly during the battle. Maybe that is why i finished it in about 20 hours and i got a lot of exploration done and all but two of the SQs.

Treat it like a RPG. You pause the game ANYTIME and access the inventory. - change weapons without reloading. And those 10-sided dice just keep clicking in your favor.

Hi,

Sorry but how is the typhoon a spoiler? Maybe I didn't do a good job reading the story but they barely mentioned it and haven't really made a big deal of it. I think it only came up during the first mission when they talked about it a little bit. Sorry if it was supposed to be a surprise or something? Was it in the augmentation menu from the beginning or did it appear later? I don't even remember.

RE: Boss cutscene - even if you save right before the cutscene, the point is, you are forced into a cutscene. Sure you can skip it after the first time, but it's still really jarring. There's no continuous flow. You walk into the room then a little 30 second movie comes up. You are in fight mode but now you are like "oh it's a show. let me sit back." then all of a sudden it's time to fight and you panic. I would have liked the option to sneak into the room or explore around so I can get my bearings. It's not a big deal. I beat the boss no problem. Was just saying it's slightly annoying to me.

Edit: OH i see, you mean right after the cutscene, I should save. OK that's a good idea but still no time to prepare. You just get thrown into the fight immediately.

id hardly call the typhoon a spoiler its there in the aug menu at the start, they demo the silly thing before you really even start playing the game (opening 20 min) and rescuing it is the point of the first mission that also dbls as a tutorial

The Typhoon augmentation maxed out is too powerful compared with the rest of the weapons. It *spoils* the game by making it too easy. There are almost no enemies - or multiple enemies - that you cannot take out if they are within the blast radius. It is similar to with gas grenades and mines for crowd control - it takes all the humans out; but Typhoon is universal.

Yes you save immediately after the cutscene. And you never have to prepare in an RPG. Hit "i" and access your inventory at ANY time. Regain energy by eating; change out weapons and reload without waiting for them to reload. You are pausing "life & action" while you prepare anytime.

i finished the damn game in 16 hours.

My playing style has me saving constantly. Sometimes before I enter a warehouse or building, I'll save, then go bezerk and just kill everything so I can take my time finding all the crawl spaces and hidden areas then I reload and go through stealth. I kind of feel guilty about this like I am cheating.

Anyone else feel compelled to play the game non-lethal because of all the talk about the massacre you were involved in? That and all the anti augment hate makes you want to play pacifist just to prove that augments are necessarily evil.

The game does make me feel guilty for working for Sarif and being aug'd. But I also get mad when people are so rude to me. I am pretty confrontational.

Then this is the game you will love - it allows you to explore those very feelings and react to them by the way you play.

There are multiple endings which address your concerns.

Unfortunately, they ultimately all disappointed me but i won't spoil the game.

Does anyone have an answer to my tranquilizer gun leading software question? I would say half the time I shoot the rifle, square in the chest or back of the bad guy, nothing happens.

LMAO HAHAHAHAHAH

(Second mission spoiler)
The black hostage that you rescue, her animations/voice acting was TERRIBLE. Hilariously bad. Her arms are moving like she's just casually talking, but she's supposed to be crying? ROFL

Hmm maybe the next time I get two Praxis points I'll get the typhoon.

Question - are you guys using any sort of inventory drop system? Like going back to your apartment and dropping extra ammo or weapons you don't feel you need right now, then later going back and picking them up?

Using "my" Detroit apartment as a storage area for unique/upgraded weapons that I'll probably never use. Nice collection though. Hoarding ammo too. Wish there was a fast travel though, it takes a while to run there and back.

That will end soon. i doubt it is worthwhile to hoard weapons and soon you will have to leave your area never to return. Only one weapon should be saved. And i won't spoil it.

If you really like a variety of weapons (like i do) expand your inventory to maximum instead.

I would say half the time I shoot the rifle, square in the chest or back of the bad guy, nothing happens.
Repeat after me, DE3 is an RPG not a FPS .. three times; hits and misses are determined by your stats and the 10-sided dice clicking in the background (like STALKER)
As you level up and buy augments for your weapons, you will have 100% accuracy

for all who have beaten the game, rating on story? out of 10.

8/10 Ending gets a little weird and over the top. "Different" endings aren't really different. Pacing could be better as far as revealing information to you. Deus Ex 1 was much better about you having no idea what was really going on and divulging significant pieces of information throughout the game. HR is a bit more like a steady stream of bread crumbs. I realize part of HR's story is and the myster are obviously ruined by DX1.

8/10. Very disappointing endings that i saw telegraphed from 5km away. But then my background is all sci-fi. The story could have been tighter and the endings could have been different from each other; they were blah to me and "the same" ... and of course, it sets up for DE4.
:whiste:

i'd give the game overall a 8.8 Very very good but not stellar. Not balanced well enough. The graphics are variable - some great - some worse than DNF. Voice acting was also variable - even the main character appeared to voice it on different days and the choices sound "patched".

Not so much. Deus Ex had aim linked to a skill, but HR doesn't really, and the developers even say as much because they wanted the combat to feel more like a shooter. Obviously there are a couple augs that change the recoil and aim while running, but that is very far from your proposed dice rolls. So if he is definitively hitting them with the bullet, and it doesn't register, it's a bug, not a failed dice roll.

No bugs; it is just like STALKER where your aim is awful in the beginning. Remember you are back to work on the first day on the job in action after major surgery when you were completely reconstructed and augmented.

The dice is far more hidden than even STALKER or the original game but DE3 is still a RPG hybrid at heart. You progress by "leveling up" with XP and praxis points. You can pause the game and do anything - access your inventory or even use praxis points - even in the middle of a battle.

DE3 is not an FPS although it plays like it in fighting and later FPS games were influenced by DueSex (and System Shock before it) and incorporate some of the original game's ideas.

I know all of that, but the developers have specifically stated on many occasions that the game doesn't use that system. He could have easily missed for some other reason though.

I'm still enjoying it quite a bit. I beat Disappearing Rihanna a few hours ago and I'm taking a break after giving out too much morphine.

Just got this last night. have to say, wow. Surely the best game I've seen or played in a long time. Very very impressed with it and it's only just begun. Fefinitely seems to be one of those must-play games, really looks superb so far.

I'm less than 2 hours in so far but this game has grabbed and drawn me in like nothing else I've played since V:TM Bloodlines.

The atmosphere is phenomenal-great music is a big part of that
shooting and cover mechanics are just about perfect so far
Graphics look fantastic and the "near-future" art style is beautifully done.

This is absolutely the best quality game I've played so far this year. Don't be deterred by the people nitpicking the cut scenes (which are noticeably lower quality, but I don't find them distracting at all) or load times (fixed in the new patch). You do not want to miss this one.

So strange that you mentioned Vampire: TM – B. I just finished a playthrough of that last week (awesome) and while I normally play FPSers I really wanted something a bit more RPG/FPS. Deus Ex:HR is perfect. Exactly what I wanted and glorious to look at and playthrough. Loving it so far and leaving work early to go get some more J

I am pissed that in China everyone wants money to pay them off. WTF? I might have to give in to the night club owner. Damn 5G's.
