I can't believe you guys are actually insulting people who are disappointed in the game and/or get their information from game reviews. At an average price of $50 for a game, it's a big investment. It's not like taking a chance on a $10 audio CD you might not like.

You don't buy games based on reviews and the opinions of others? Oh really? You just happened to stumble across Deus Ex, Black Ops, and other Game of the Year titles accidentally?

No, we do our proper homework and we ignore hype.

You know, like intelligent gamers do.

pretty much,

when the first DX game came out id never haeard of it bought it sight unsean, got invisible war because of the 1st
preordered DX:HR and never thought twice about it, TBH before it arrived i think i read maybe 1 thing online about it and watch some promos, i vaguely remember watching a vid of the 1st level like a year ago when people bitchd about the game highlighting objects and such.

Alice: MR i got sight unsean as well - loved it

i preorder pretty much everything and play what i want not giving a crap about what reviewers think. its the same way i approach movies

TBH the only game i cancled my preorder for was DNF because of how amazingly bad the reviews were and that only happened because it released in the US last.

and i havent insulted anyone who has offered a good arguement for why they didnt lile it, however i will make fun of people that say stupid things like "the graphics suck" because they are flat out wrong

It runs great for me, all settings maxed, at 1920x1080.
2500K @ 4.2GHz, 8GB 1600DDR, XFX HD6850 with a slight OC.
No slowdowns, stuttering, etc.
The only problem I've had is sometimes when it starts I have to change the resolution to something else and back to 1080 because is displays weird shadows and overlapping while in game (it's hard to describe).
The only gameplay weirdness is when you try to talk to a quest character and have your gun out, the cutscene starts, they say put your gun away, then the cutscene restarts from the beginning. More funny than anything.
On this playthrough I did the police station the stealth way and right when I was about to leave after doing the objectives, I decided to go back and take out the entire force. It is Detroit after all. When I walked out the front door, I was greeted by gunfire, and when I died and reloaded, it started me outside with three cops shooting at me. I had to turn as fast as I could to go back inside to heal as I was left with single digit energy. I could have used an earlier checkpoint, if that hadn't worked, so no big deal there either.
Other than that, it's the most enjoyable single player game I've played since Borderlands or Just Cause 2 for just messing around.

Meh. People are entitled to their opinions.

Personally this is my fav game of the year. Even better than The Witcher 2. It feels just like the original game. Epic.

Oh, and anyone and everyone who were stupid enough to buy into the hype so that your game experience was less than you had hoped, that's YOUR fault for buying into the hype.

As an intelligent gamer in today's gaming market, anyone who buys into any hype at all are a bunch of dumbasses.

actually I never read any review or website about it at all..
Going off of coworkers hype and recommendations.

just blind tried it but didnt want to waste 50 bucks on a PC version if I could rent it on 360 first.. redbox game rentals for the win.

You've repeated the line "intelligent gamers" a few times now I feel like maybe I overlooked some sort of movement or faction. Should it be Intelligent Gamers (TM)? It's actually quite confusing because you are clearly insulting anyone who "buys into the hype," but when you do it, it's because you did proper research. It's a lose lose.

Reading isn't a strong skill for you, is it.

But when I do it? But when I do what?

Constructive criticism is acknowledged and noted. "Overhyped" and "crap" are not constructive.

What "investment"? If Steam is any indication, all of my "investments" have lost $$45 out of $50 I've "invested" over 2+ years without exception. It's a piece of entertainment that may hit or miss, similar to a meal at a new restaurant that does not offer samples in this case. If the meal sucks, you go online and give a constructive review then walk away.

I genuinely believe you cannot rely on "professional" reviews these days, for a number of reasons, I always come to forums and get opinions from actual gamers who have had hands on experience with game. If you're reading preview and reviews then buying in to hype and then finding yourself disappointed, you probably ought to stop reading this kind of media.

Deus Ex from what I've played of it so far (about 3-4 hours last night) has been way above the average of games today, it looks really good in 2560x1600 maxed out and the game is really polished. Gameplay wise it's a bit simplistic but it's enjoyable to me, I'm loving sneaking about and using the silent take downs.

I've just picked up the upgraded jump, silent running and silent sprinting so when I play again tonight I intend to ninja around the maps doing silent take downs on the guards, I think games like this with some breadth to gameplay are often more fun when you play with self imposed rules like never get seen, takes me back my ghosting days in Thief.

^ Gamers' opinions aren't much better also. Different people , different taste. It's laughable how some will defend a particular game like it's the best thing since the sliced bread, all the games have pros and cons, and criticism is the only reason they're ever improving.

The great thing about gamers opinions is that you get a good average across lots of them, and the longer I spend on forums the more I can single out which users I tend to agree with and pay more attention to their feedback.

I'm still playing DE:HR and still find it enjoyable, stability still excellent with zero crashes.

I think I'm about halfway though so far ,done 2 bosses however I like to explore so will be getting maximum playing hours out of this game.

I'll give the game solid 8/10 so far.

I agree. I've found that gamers with frequent extreme opinions (this is the worst/best game in the universe!!!!!!!!) are the first ones that should be ignored.

Ive had it crash once on me, however im not sure if that was the game or one of my video cards overheating. im back in china on hard and well hard isnt all that hard IMO. However trying to be stealthy /not kill/set off alarms is to an extent, need to spend a good amount of time watching where people path to be able to take them out quietly without people noticing

someone asked about the tranq gun/sniper upgrade a while ago and you activate it with D and you simply line the corsshair up with the samller circle that is infront of the person in the direction they are moving. TBH the tranq gun is my fave gun, i got a whole room of people piled on top of each other, just kept nailing them as they ran over to inspect the dude who passed out

I'm not terribly far into the game. Haven't even done the first mission in Detroit yet, but I did the first 3 side missions I found. I'm having a good time. The game doesn't perform very well on my machine compared to other recent games:
- C2D@3.0Ghz
- 4GB RAM
- ATI 4870

I know my machine is getting old, but I usually don't have any problems with major stuttering or slowdown in other games. I'm considering upgrading now though.

Here are my thoughts:
1. The main character sounds like he needs a cough drop and a drink of water. I guess they took that "raspy voice = cool" idea from the Batman movies.

2. I'm playing on normal difficulty and it's definitely easy to die if you don't pay decent attention to what you're doing. If you get 2 guys shooting at you for a few seconds, you're dead. I like it.

3. I have put most of my points into hacking so far, even though I'm still not 100% sure how it works. This is the same way I played the Fallout games. I hate seeing doors/safes/etc. that I can't hack, so I like to raise my hacking level quickly. A bunch of the augmentations seem worthless to me, based on my play style.

4. I definitely need to get the augmentations for larger inventory. I hate dropping guns. The tranq rifle takes up so much space and I only have like 2 darts, but it's my favorite. I've been using upgrades on the machine pistol, since it seems like I find the most ammo for that and it does a reasonable amount of damage.

5. Stealth does seem weird for me sometimes. Usually it's because enemies won't see me crawling around/jumping between cover, even if they're looking mostly in my direction. I do need to figure out how to be stealthy in large mostly open areas (ex. police station second floor) when I need to get someplace between a group of enemies.

6. I really need to buy a new mouse. My middle/wheel click doesn't work, so I had to map iron sights/zoom to caps lock. I need to see if I can map it to the forward or back button on my mouse.

7. I feel like the world could be a lot more interactive/detailed. There are cardboard boxes around everywhere, but all I can do it pick them up. A lot of areas just feel "flat" to me. Like someone else mentioned, it's weird to go into an apartment building and only see 1 or 2 apartment doors in the entire place.

I'll add more as I think of it.

noodle factory? did i compleatly gloss over something or miss a side mission?
It's a mission from Explosive Mission pack -- if you ordered it from GameStop.

Though there are other store where you can order explosive dlc pack from (dlc only)

I got my retail copy in UK,most online shops here were including the Explosive Mission pack DLC included with pre-orders ie Amazon UK,GAME UK,Play.com to name a few.

From what I've read, the pirated version included all the Gamestop pre-order content.
Interesting.

How could that possibly be surprising? When a pirate copies a game, do you think he'll only download the standard edition? No... he's going take as much as humanly possible.

Is anyone else not using the Typhoon?
I'd just rather shoot or takedown, and I usually forget I even have it.
