Is anyone else not using the Typhoon?
I'd just rather shoot or takedown, and I usually forget I even have it.

i forgot i had it a lot, it is more fun in the last level but not needed, its fun for doing stupid shit like killing everyone in the popo station

Well, I've gotten a bit farther, and just had the most LOL moment I've had in gaming in .. perhaps ever, at least for a single player game.

I came into an area, MDK'd everyone, then came upon a PC where it let me hack / take over the turret in the area. I thought "well damn, that woulda been fun a minute ago", but I set it to 'enemy' mode anyway and then pressed a button on the wall, which prompted the network dude to tell me that more squishies were on their way to me. YAY! I turned around, crouched, and picked up the turret robot, and proceeded to carry it around and letting it mow everyone that came after me down. Was spectacular

I'm running around right now in the game with 10+ points to spend but nothing I really want to spend it on. I have all of the main abilities, none of the other interest me. I just left China for the first time btw.

If you play the game in "Give Me Deus Ex", do you lose the onscreen display of things? Because I don't have any icons on my screen, so nothing telling me how much ammo I have, or my energy level, and I don't have any kind of indication of what I'm aiming at (I use right-shift but it disables that when you duck behind cover)... I didn't even know I was missing all of this stuff until I saw some other people screen shots and noticed that they have ammo left and energy and other stuff on their screen... is my display configured wrong? Or is this a "perk" of me playing on the hardest level?

Does anybody else find the voice of David Sarif really annoying? It's like he's constantly mocking me, or being sarcastic or something.

This may not be the case, but in the first level, there is no HUD.

YES, the voice, the giant muzzle flash, and the outdated graphic are just few of the reason I gave this game away. Overall this game feel like a game from 10 years ago.

The voice works is pretty cool if you ask me and while graphics aren't the ONLY important thing in a game, I hve to agree, these do seem outdated...

I'd urge you to go back and give the game another chance.

If you like games then this is a game that is going to reward you for being a gamer. The drawbacks you bring up are fair, but try to drop your guard a bit and just play for awhile.

I do like games, I played and Finished Fallout3 and The Witcher2 twice.
But there is no way in hell I am wasting my time on this game.

Your loss, I think you let the negatives influence you too much. It really does get much better imho as it goes along. I think it's somewhat funny that you mention FO3. I loved FO3 and FO:NV, but talk about oooooold graphics engine lol. Witcher 2 is just a totally different type of game altogether. The Bethesda games do have more content, though I like the main storyline much better in DE:HR.

You can always wait for Skyrim, I'm sure that will be great as well.

I do think that DE:HR is a little overrated by some people, and certainly by the game sites, but to be honest, it's been a long dry spell for decent games on the PC. Skyrim, BF3, Diablo 3, and perhaps a few others should make for a nice end to 2011 and into 2012 though. Aside from the shortcomings, DE is pretty entertaining, if a bit short and a little claustrophobic to me.

I find this new one to be closer to the original deus ex and I find that appealing. It's a good game.

It's not all bad, it gets somewhat interesting during the second half, the final level is a bit of a let down however, it reminded me of Crysis 2, all you need is a knife and stealth. Too bad they don't actually give you a knife in DeusEx, most people would then realize how useless are the other weapons.

So does anyone know exactly how weapon mods work? When you examine the weapon in the inventory, there appears to be only 3 upgrade slots, but I am able to constantly add damage/reload/ammo capacity upgrades. Whenever I add a new upgrade, does it remove an older one?

There are two levels of upgrades - you have the 3 special upgrade slots which let you add laser sights, silencers, special mods etc., but then you also the four or so stackable upgrades below those. They include reload speed, damage, and a couple others I can't remember, but they have a different maximum level for each weapon. (Look at the colours of the vertical bars for indications of current level and maximum allowable level) You can't remove an upgrade or mod once it has been applied - it is permanent.

Its good game overall and captures the feel of the original Deus Ex perfectly but there are same glaring flaws.

1. Lethal weapons are a joke. What's the point of a sniper rifle that is weaker than the tranquilizer gun?
2. Bonus mission XPs only rewards stealthy playstyles and non-lethal KOing the crap out of everything. For a game that promotes itself for having multiple playstyle choices, I find that to be insulting. Besides the Ghost bonus is way too restrictive; so much as one enemy spotts you it's gone.
3. Plain useless Augs like Hacking: Fortify/Analyse, Aim stabilizer and Stealth Enhancer.
4. Loading times are too long.
5. Last part of the game feels rushed and the philosphies/choices at the ending are too abrupt.

Still, a work worthy of the original game and hopefully Eidos can improve upon these issues on the next one.

Been playing for a few hours now, love it so far. I never played the others but I might have to to back. This is my kind of game. Its mass effect with a lot more exploration and customization. As far as graphics go I think it looks good. Nothing revolutionary but it doesn't take away from the experience. I have it running maxed out on a 6850 with a core I5 2400k @ 4ghz @ 2048x1152 res. I did have some screen tearing but turning on vsync got rid of it.

You can carry them into boss fights. It really helps against Jarin.

If you can't figure it out, you're an idiot.

Examine your weapon. There are 3 slots above with SPECIFIC MODS shown in them. The fucking screen TELLS YOU what mods you can put onto your weapon.

The bar graph looking things below are OTHER TYPES of mods.

I don't understand how you can see this and not get it.
