i have to admit, anytime they put me in a large city (Detroit, China) with multiple levels and a large map, I get confused as heck. I know there's a map and icons but I spent 20 minutes last night trying to find the employee shuttle to take me to the tower. What's worse is you move between 'zones' and each one requires a load. The waypoints are "as the eagle flies" so you can't tell if it's entirely in another "zone". Sometimes you get to a dead end in an alley (no left or right) and it shows it "just on the other side" of a wall you can't get over or around. Am I the only one having difficulties using the map?

You're already at the employee shuttle and you don't know the city yet? I spent about 10-15 minutes running around China as soon as I got there and then had the city memorized.

I think my lingering complaint about the game now that I'm through is that it feels really small after playing bethesda games. I do think the plot, style, lots of things are better done than say FO3/FONV and Oblivion, but the sense of scale just isn't there. I felt really confined most of the time, and the lack of interaction hurt immersion a bit. Getting stuck on a plastic cone as if it were made of adamantium just shouldn't happen in a 2011 game.

Overall though I quite enjoyed the experience, I'd give it at least an 8/10 because the good stuff (music, plot, fun factor) was so good. I'd definitely pull the trigger on any real expansion pack that comes through, and really look forward to future games that are more expansive and with more complete physics environments. How fun would some of the heavy weapons be if you could just start mowing through concrete walls/etc

I also didn't really get the "human augmentations" and what Sarif Industries' "breakthrough" really was and why it was so groundbreaking. Thinking back, I just remembered that the mechanical augs in DX1 were referred to as old-tech, and that J.C. and Paul Denton were the newest nanite augmented people. Ah... coming together now slightly. That's sad, I went through the entire game thinking it was a sequel.

I don't know if it was explained to you or not in the game, your story could have taken a different path, but the breakthrough was
Jensen's DNA, and using it to make humans more adaptable to augmentations
.

Yes, you are more talented than I.

Story-driven games require so much effort for the main plot that increasing the scale simply isn't feasible; it's just a trade off. Sure they could increase the size of the area and stuff in a lot of low quality content that doesn't require much effort to add, but that would just feel tacked on. It's just an inherent limitation to this kind of games, especially with the increasing production value (voice acting, motion capture etc.)

Exactly, and I'll take a well-made story-driven game any day over an open-ended sandbox with complete freedom and no real direction.

The way I see it...

Adam Jensen was an experiment by the Illuminati to create a human that would not reject augmentation, and whose body would not need a drug to cope with the augmentations.

The Dentons were created from his DNA, and its what allowed them to be suitable for nano augmentation.

I just watched a few gameplay footages and listened to DXHR OST - AWESOME. As a global thinker, I'm only worried that this game might not pay back to it's makers. Does anyone know what was the budget of this game and how much $ did it earn to their makers? I hope this game is a success and game designers will continue making quality games.

According to estimated worldwide sales figures that have just been released Deus Ex sold around 656,000 units during its first week on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The Xbox 360 version of the game sold best with around 348,000 units, the PlayStation 3 sold 228,000 units and the PC version managed 80,000.

This is an impressive figure for any game during its first week, however the major question is, what was Square-Enix's sales target in order for the game to break even?
If they sell 1,000,000 games it is $60 million in gross sales. i do not believe the 80,000 PC game sales counts digital sales.

And they will - easily - sell a million copies
http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com/sales/43321/deus-ex-human-revolution/

i doubt DE3 cost a penny over $35 million to get out the door even with the ad campaign; this is a solid franchise and you can expect further sequels as well as DLC and expansions.
:whiste:

From the first link:
Deus Ex: Human Revolution gets a DLC add-on called The Missing Link later this year.
As reported by Siliconera, resourceful users dug up mention of the pack in the official website's RSS XML.

According to the blurb found therein, the campaign expansion sees protagonist Adam Jensen attempting to escape from a mysterious freighter, only minus his augmentations. You'll have to rebuild his powers, explore "sprawling" new environments and interact with a cast of new characters.

"We are very excited for Deus Ex: Human Revolution fans to be able to complete Adam's journey in the game with The Missing Link DLC," read an apparent comment from producer David Anfossi.

"Gamers will be able to experience a vulnerable side of Adam like never before, which gives the overall game a whole new dimension. The Missing Link propels players into compelling gameplay, beginning with Adam being stripped of his use of augmentations, new, visually stunning environments and the continuation of Deus Ex: Human Revolution's conspiracy rich story."

An official announcement has since appeared on the site, stating that the add-on will be out in October.

The DLC will be Adam without his augmentations? So it'll be "Homo Ex" instead?

On a side note, anyone felt like using Takedown on the lady down at the reception in Chiron Bldg, on the replacement mirror issue?

There's an email stating the mirror has been with them for some time now.

I didn't see that email until late in the game, and by that time she wasn't at her desk anymore. I wanted to kill/knock her out but it was too late.

lol... i have over 60 hours logged in the game.... its a fun game... playing with all the weapons is even more fun like the crossbow.... however can someone tell me how to recover a stupid bolt?? as it always breaks when i try to recover them.

I have most of the achievements...

There are serveral graphic issues with this game i have noticed.

The first is the Alice Pods and Nvidia cards.... With Vsync disabled, and target recticule up on 3 580GTX's in SLI, i get constant crashes.... its only in the main section to alice garden pods also... no where else in the game.

Crashes usually happen if i spin around very quickly....

LOLOL... never knew this.. looks like i have another run to do... but if u did take her down, wont that agro all the cops around?

I just picked this up. I haven't played a game like this since... original Deus Ex! I've played some really fun single player games (Diablo & SC), but it's been awhile since I got into this immersive storyline.

It took me a good 2-3 hours until I got the hang of how to play (cover system, getting used to AI). I almost quit because of frustration before 'getting it'.

Now playing on hardest mode and it's gotten bit.. lame. It's the story that's getting me going now.

There's almost no use of all the extra weapons. The 10mm pistol with silencer is all you need to kill pretty much... everything.

Thanks to the stupid AI & early-available silencer, you can sneak behind everyone and headshot them all. You don't even need to look down the barrel once you get the laser sight. This completely renders all sniper rifles useless. It's a shame. This pistol is also known for its unique armor-piercing upgrade. Yup, this puny pistol also raped the ARMORED TANK BOT. It just took about 20-25 shots.

I killed all the thugs, super armored mercs, police, everyone... with 1-shot headshots. The AI is VERY forgiving and stupid. A buddy can be literally 5m away, and I headshot his partner, all he does is become 'Alarmed' instead of going full-on hostile.

Then I can just shoot him too. wtf... too easy (again, I'm on hardest). You know most missions you're not supposed to get detected? (Like the gang mission) Yeah, I killed them all with headshots, without getting hostiled/detected once (took few tries though).

Because of the pistol's ridiculous efficiency, I racked up so much ammo for other weapons.

I took those, went into the police department, cooped up myself in the vent, and killed everyone. Yup, everyone in the department is dead.

I also killed all the civilians, totally wiped out both gangs, Megan's mom... everyone.

The street is dead quiet. I'm lonely. -_- Time to leave for China for the first time. I assume I'm about 25% done?

Yeah a fully upgraded pistol is ridiculously overpowered and simply too accurate over long distance. I have it and I can headshot a guy right across the map. The sniper rifle is useless because of it.

Great game though.

lol u need to play with the cross bow.

Its fun when you watch the first guy get hit.. fly backwards to kill another guy behind him.

multi killing is fun with the bow...

LOL pistol is OP if fully upgraded.

Laser rifle is also fun with the nano vision, as it can go through walls.

HAhahhah ME TOO.

I head-shotted the bitch lobby lady for withholding my mirror. It was so satisfying with the silenced pistol making the 'psstt!' noise.

I also shot the janitor for making the ignorant 'No augs in this hotel' comment.

There was no police to be aggro'ed because... read post above.
