I would love to hear why you could possibly think DX is more complex or better than DXHR.
The damage system where individual parts of your body are injured and cause penalties. Stealth that involves line of sight and shadows, without using a cover system; you list the cover system as a boost of complexity, but I see it as the opposite. The skills matter much more in Deus Ex, as if you don't boost weapons skills, you are next to useless with them. In HR, you're a weapons expert from the start, and can play stealth easily using the cover system and take downs, so no specialization is required. The completely removed melee combat in HR, not that it was amazing in Deus Ex by today's standards, but that doesn't mean scrap it, that means update it. Deus Ex has both skills and AUG's, so while you may find the AUG's in HR cooler or more useful, that doesn't make the system more complex. Then smaller things, like Deus Ex having more interactive items, and whatever else I may have forgotten.

Anyway, you have your reasons, I have mine. I'm not trying to start some argument over it, as to each their own.

Hmmm... you can kill or not kill Anna Navarre when you see her on the plane, and you can also save your brother from getting killed. Both of those are signifcant I think.

In general, HR's combat is better, except for two things. One, you are too frail. DX allowed you to take a few hits, and with the right aug you could take a lot of hits. In DX:HR, even with the armor upgrade you are incredibly frail. It forces you into playing stealth, and means that the silenced armor piercing pistol is the most powerful weapon in the game.

Two, only one of your cells will recharge. Thats just fucking stupid.

yeah, i think the armor upgrade should let you be a bit tankier. even playing DE1 on hardcore i could take plenty of shots with the armor fully upgraded.

as for only 1 cell recharging, in DE1 once you were out of energy you were out period (until you recharged at a station or used a bioelectric cell). so you were seriously SOL

Yeah but those bio electric cells were plentiful. I find the energy bars in DXHR to be quite scarce, so I dont use them if I can help it. Also DX allowed you to take an aug that decreased the energy drain of other augs.

I honestly did not feel any difference between 0 armor augs and fully augmented armor. It's always a couple direct shots and I'm dead.

That's why I've been playing mostly through stealth, which luckily gives lots of experience. Though I'm at a point now where I have ~4 praxis points and nothing interesting to spend them on (have everything I need.) I also didn't pick up typhoon cause I heard it kind of cheeses the game.

I just rescued Tong's son btw (bonus mission I believe) and about to head to a ship.

Damn, found some things I wish I knew before I started playing.

Those damn movable boxes and trashcans can sometimes hide items. 99% of the time there's nothing but every now and then you find something.

Also didn't realize that getting a headshot, even with the tranq gun, provides a marksmanship bonus to xp.

Not sure if it has been discussed already, but which ending did you find appropriate?

Yup. I found something under a box in the first tutorial mission and now move everything. I'm actually bummed I don't find more because there's a LOT of boxes that move.

Can you go back to previous areas, like the lab where there purists attacked? I remember seeing some movable soda machines but I didn't have enough strength to move them then and they were near the beginning, way before you get your first praxis point.

No, but there's nothing there anyway.
(I used the debug menu on the third playthrough)

Can someone tell me if there are any vendors or do you get to go back to your office after China? I'm so loaded up with items and I want somewhere to offload them. =(

I have no idea how far I am in the game, but I'm to the point where I'm spending praxis points on things I don't care about.

I did accidentally read a spoiler here about the
bad implant in China, so I ignored Pritchard when he told me to go get mine replaced.

I'm currently
back in China after saving Malik when she was shot down.
Not sure how much longer I have to go - think I have about 25 hours in so far.

None of them. All four are nothing more than a few dumb unrelated video clips with a narrative voice over from Adam. None of them really explain anything, he just waxes philosophical with each one.

FAIL.

I caught that spoiler accidentally as well, but I went ahead and did it anyway. I wanted to play the game as if I hadn't spoiled it on myself.

Did anyone else laugh when they saw his address was 420? I didn't laugh because of the number really, I laughed because one of the developers had to come up with a number and chose 420. I could just see them all sitting around a table coming up with ideas for the game and all agreeing on 420.

Haven't got that far yet but I had to laugh when reading someone's email I saw that it had rules for computer security and the guy had a post-it note on his desk with his password.

another one i saw was for a nigerian scammer.

Oh, another question. If I want to leave something behind, like a gun or items, can I stash them somewhere that I can always get to? My game came with the tactical dlc pack or something and it gave me 2 huge ass guns and ammo and they take up half the inventory!

You can stash them in your apartment, but when the story moves forward you will be leaving that area, so there's no permanent stash. The game does warn you though when you're about to leave.

Yes, there is a permanent stash. If the story lets you return to the city you stashed something in, it will be there.

If you stash something in your apartment and come back to it after having gone to another city, your stuff will be safe and sound

Well I was debating whether I should mention his return to Detroit or not to prevent spoilers, but yes, when you return, you will find everything.

It's still not a reliable place to store items though, because you're not always in Detroit. Better than nothing though

Ya, with three progressively more difficult boss fights, I was expecting something uber at the end. :\

I just finished it last night. About 30 hours in total. I agree that the final boss fight seemed really weird. I probably would have preferred it if they ended the game after you confront
Darrow
.

Money in the game seemed kind of underutilized to me, but maybe it was just my play style. I think I had 25-30k at the end. The only thing I ever bought were Praxis kits and gun upgrades. I might have bought ammo once or twice when I just felt like having more. I would have liked it better if each LIMB clinic had an unlimited # of Praxis kits. Even if I didn't use the augs I unlocked very much, I still felt like I was accomplishing something by having them.

Last boss seemed tacked on. But it wasn't a tough fight. I didn't know if there was a way to not kill the people in the human-computer hybrid.

The skills system made no sense for Deus Ex in that you were useless with weapons as a nano augmented agent designed to kick ass. It was typical for an RPG type game though, and added to customization/replay options. In Deus Ex HR, your guy is ex-SWAT, so it fits. But ya, they probably put it in primarily to "dumb it down" so that you could jump right in and do anything, not have to wait and slog for years. Melee combat could have been better and/or more interactive than just hitting "Q".
