YES, the voice, the giant muzzle flash, and the outdated graphic are just few of the reason I gave this game away. Overall this game feel like a game from 10 years ago.

You're fucking delusional.

Do you really want me to go find graphics from 2001 and post them side by side with this game?

Really, you can't believe the bullshit that's coming out of your mouth...

I'm running the game on my system labeled here. It is running better for me than Farcry 2 and Dragon Age Origins. Honestly, I am quite surprised at how well it runs. I'm not sure what fps I am getting, but it looks smoother than other stuff. Its mostly in big outdoor areas that performance lags. I am playing at 1920x1080p. The newest set of patches really made a huge difference in the load times.

For graphics, its quite stylized. Some of the faces could use more detail. Anybody that isn't a major character's face looks pretty bad. I love the art direction and color. And the soundtrack is amazing. It reminds me of the Tron 2 soundtrack and the Star Trek remake. Plus the moments where you her music from the original are really cool.

I was also extremely surprised at how much like the original Deus Ex it was. I was worried it focus too much on combat, but it surprisingly doesn't. It definitely favors a stealth approach. You get so much more exp for less lethal/invisible approaches. There is a bit less in the environment. The original let you buy from vending machines and pick up virtually everything. I remember throwing junk all over the place. I do miss actually melee combat. Running around with the dragon tooth and bashing open (people, boxes, doors) everything I could.

Overall, I am pleased as hell. It's the best game I've played this year.

well, im not sure how far i am in the game,
i got back from china and am tracking down taggart's aide
but damn this game is awesome. i gotta say it's 1000x more interesting having played DE1. i think if you were new to the DE universe, it wouldn't be nearly as engaging.

Damn my ass is really out of shape for gaming, literally. Spent 12+ hours on it this weekend playing DE and it hurts!

Strangely, when I first started the game I maxed out the gfx options at 25x16 and it ran like complete shit. So I removed dx11, AA, and lowered some other options to get acceptable fps. Game was still laggy but tolerable. Then later on the Chinese levels, I tried maxing out the game again with DX11 and MLAA, now its smooth as butter?

Am I the only one that think the Graphic is outdated??

Nope, you aren't.

DX11 and tessellation is outdated? The textures seem a little consolized but that's about it.

There are far better looking DX9 titles. Slapping new graphics features on a game doesn't magically make it look good.

And the game needs a high-res texture pack badly. The current textures quality is faaar too inconsistent (one room looks decent, and the next looks like HL1)

Don't get me wrong. The game actually looks nice because of the great art direction and style, but that doesn't necessarily mean the graphics are good (think WoW)

Just finished it at 3am. Boo ya. Spent the yesterday with a marathon session to 4am. Steam says I dumped in 27 hours over 2 weekends. Not bad.

Ending was fine. I just got a bit tired near the end, think I overdid it just a tad. Best game I've played in a while that was great from the start and fairly consistent until the end. Last levels weren't "all that" considering what you were up against - that's my biggest complaint.

I finished the game with only 11 augs left to buy/upgrade. I already acquired the good ones well before that. Will probably start up another game soon with full guns blazing. I whored experience this first time around by silently meleeing people, but then putting a few bullets into their skulls if I felt they deserved it.

Hey, me too This game has great gameplay, but I'm not sold on the story. However, I see it as the ME1 of the mass effect series. That means there's a lot a sequel could offer to what is already a nice solid package.

There are two levels of upgrades - you have the 3 special upgrade slots which let you add laser sights, silencers, special mods etc., but then you also the four or so stackable upgrades below those. They include reload speed, damage, and a couple others I can't remember, but they have a different maximum level for each weapon. (Look at the colours of the vertical bars for indications of current level and maximum allowable level) You can't remove an upgrade or mod once it has been applied - it is permanent.

Another thing about upgrades, which i don't particularly like, is they stick to only 1 gun. If you are like me and sell weapons a lot dont stick upgrades on those guns. There's no 'once upgraded always upgraded' system. Luckily I tested this out before I did any selling for guns I modified but you might want to watch out for that.

I just beat the game on normal and I liked it quite a bit. Looks amazing in parts but other areas look not so good. Overall it was fun.

I played the guns blazing style most of the time without much concern for stealth and even though I got less exp I did just fine.

I would overall recommend this game to anybody that likes RPG's.

In some areas I got a MGS vibe and a bit of Blade Runner. I loved the atmosphere in this game. When you look up in the China area it took my breath away at the movement and the different things flying around. It just looked amazing.

I just started a new save file on hard mode just for some fun, going for a more stealthy approach.

Absolutely loved the stealth/pacifist approach, ghosted the majority of missions and didn't kill anyone (yet I must have since I didn't get the pacifist achievement...good thing I don't care about that). Think I hacked nearly every computer as well, <3 this game rewarding OCD collectors like myself. I'm thinking about doing a replay as a gun nut just for the heck of it, but the stealth is where the bacon is.

Only thing that got me was the bugginess (for ME)...I had multiple persistent CTDs, some preventing progress before trial and error quicksaving let me through them. Also had my stun gun glitch out preventing me from using it for the last 1/8th of the game...good thing I had plenty of PEPS and candy to let me finish Not saying this game is buggy though, seems like most are OK...plus my SSD died on me after a lovely BSOD while playing, so it could have been the SSD--or it could have been HR killing my SSD, but I <3 HR more than my SSD so it's all good.

Definite 9.5/10 for me; along the lines of Freespace 2, Starsiege, Morrowind, and Independence War 2 for games that I thoroughly enjoyed playing.

I just finished playing through it again, I made different choices and tried different augmentations. Most of the ones I skipped the first time turned out to be pretty worthless.
I made different conversation choices this time as well, usually turning out to be bad. Somehow I seemingly made the right choices the first time around.
One thing I did not realize until reading it somewhere was that you could
save Malik after crashing.
That was surprising. I usually assume things just go the way they go unless it's obvious there is as choice, so that was a nice surprise!
This time around I...
-Shot Zeke instead of letting him get away with the hostage
-Saved Malik
-Convinced Sandoval that he should shoot himself (somehow)
-Pissed off Sarif when talking to him
-Got all the evidence for the mother regarding her daughters death
-Helped Malik with her friends mysterious death
among other things.
I'm playing through it again quickly with the debug menu. The game goes alot faster not worrying about dying, getting XP, choosing which augs to use (you get them all, or whatever ones you want), finding guns and ammo, and hacking.

I had zero performance isues, no CTD's, nothing. The only issue I had was in my other post about the weird effects before switching to another resolution and back.

Hey all,

Quick (generic) question. To my everlasting shame, I still haven't played the original (and I avoided the second as reviews weren't so good). Would this make Human Revolution a stretch to play? How deep is the connection between the games?

Thanks!

I've never played the first 2 either, and I enjoyed HR. There were some things that I assume were references to the first ones, and some characters that must have been returning characters from the first 2, but not knowing who they are didn't ruin the game for me.

Grrr... You can save her? I was eating dinner then and watching TV so I waited a few minutes before shooting people around the crashed plane.

The game goes very quickly when you realize how little you have to do to advance the storyline!
The forced conversation parts are the only things that make you slow down.
Levels I spent hours on during my first playthrough only take a few minutes to blast through.
It is much more fun doing it the right way, with exploration, limits and alternate objectives.

The connection are limited to a few cameos. I've seen precisely two DX1 characters in the game, with a number of others referenced in emails. But the references aren't really necessary, or even helpful.

This is a prequel to the old games, so you should be fine.

Overall a great gaming experience. Though the last level was a huge and lasting disappointment for me. It will likely keep me from playing through the title again.

Zombies,.... really? I've spent the entire game honing my attack methods and fighting tougher and tougher opponents and the last level throws at me,... droves of mindless zombies? What a friggen joke that was. Very disappointed in that direction and more than a bit surprised that the team took the game down that road. Felt like I was part of a practical joke TBH. I think facing off against a super augmented group of soldiers, as hinted at in the plotline, would have been a bit more enjoyable than having raving lunatics repeatedly run directly at me in a frenzy.

You already fought super augmented soldiers, one at a time, three times.
I actually liked the changeup, it was supposed to demonstrate what happens when people get augmented and things go wrong. The whole game was about the imperfection and moral thin line that augmentation was.

Yes, you have to gun them all down before they gun "it" down (see "it" as having HP)

Really? It's been so long since I've played the first one that I didn't know the years the storylines take place. I thought this was an alt-universe or that it took place afterwards. Still cool.

Ya, seriously. I was more than a bit disappointed with the last levels having to take care of zombies. It did introduce me to the PEPS though, which is such an awesomely amazing gun. I didn't touch it before this.

The last level was definitely a complete change in tone that could have been done way way better. I'm sure they could have put in a huge group of regular "smart" and hard augmented soldiers. Just say the guy had a personal bodyguard unit that was protected from the crazy-chip thing.

Hint: use gas grenades and gas mines against any humans .. takes out the entire crowd with no mess and quite efficiently.

Bosses could have been done way better. The ending was disappointing and not terribly different, one from the other. And DE3 is the prequel to the series; it is the first human augmentation and sets the stage for DE and IW.

I got sick of carrying around gas grenades because I always tranq'd or CQC'd (MGS term...) everyone if I was going non-lethal. PEPS was awesome though. After a while I just said eff it and started mowing everyone down with my heavy rifle. They were dead anyways?

Cool, didn't noticed that. I thought the bird flu references and Versalife talk was concerning
the plague and disease thing in the first DX
.

I also didn't really get the "human augmentations" and what Sarif Industries' "breakthrough" really was and why it was so groundbreaking. Thinking back, I just remembered that the mechanical augs in DX1 were referred to as old-tech, and that J.C. and Paul Denton were the newest nanite augmented people. Ah... coming together now slightly. That's sad, I went through the entire game thinking it was a sequel.
