I have the Game of the Year edition that I got from Amazon for about 3.00 or something ridiculous and all I can say is that I'm really enjoying this game! I installed it about 6 months ago and never finished the first level. Recently I picked up a widescreen monitor (Acer AL2051W which is teh pwn) and noticed that the game supported widescreen. So I started playing again and I'm really impressed. The shadows suck bad, and the graphics in general aren't that great (durr durr durr) but the gameplay is excellent. Between this and my replaying of FarCry for the umpteenth time, I'll be busy for the next few weeks.

If you liked Deus Ex, check out Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (on steam). Uses the HL2 engine and it is the only FPS that I like just as good (if not better than) Deus Ex.

Did I mention that many of the ex Fallout 1 / 2 developers were involved in its creation?

Anyways, if you get it, apply the latest official and community patch (in that order). Activision really screwed up Troika before the release of this game.

If you think you got your money's worth, I got the game for 99 cents.
I might pick it and its sequel up on Steam to save some room and sell the discs. I had a helluva lot of fun with this game. Either this, the original Half-Life, Far Cry, or Half-Life Opposing Force, is my favorite PC game of all time.

Good game, even if the graphics are a bit dated. I got mine for free as an included CD-ROM with some gaming magazines many years ago. But it took much convincing to get me to play it. Glad I did.

I got it free with an SBLive 5.1 sound card in 2001. That still had the best game bundle I've ever seen included with a piece of hardware: Deus Ex, Thief 2, MDK2 and UT. All were top notch games. The UT CD I got was seemingly broken, but I already had that game anyway so it didn't matter.

Warren Specter's (SP) team is around? Who do they work for now? I thought Ion Storm collapsed after the release of DX2.

Ion Storm pretty much turned into Junction Point after they collapsed, but it's Eidos Montreal that's developing the game. Right now Spector is working with John Woo on Ninja Gold in a concurrent game/movie release.

I know the game had problems with Vista and Steam released an update a few days later that addressed it. So at least the Steam version is up to date and compatible with XP and Vista.

Ooo... you just reminded me of a game I never finished, but wanted to - Anachronox. I wonder if it'll run on Vista..

And a few other games - System Shock 2, Crusader No Remorse, Crusader No Regret...

Is VTM:B still buggy? I never finished it, although I did enjoy it. Since I borrowed it from a friend then, perhaps I'll buy it off Steam now. I LOVED the mansion scene!

I wish there was some way I could add DX to my Steam account since I have the original CD. I'd love to be able to have the possibility to DL it if my CD were to ever become lost or scratched.

I played it about a year ago (so I can't compare to the Steam version), and didn't find any show-stopping bugs. It was somewhat clear that the game wasn't as polished as it could have been, but there was nothing to stop me playing through and enjoying the whole thing.

I doubt that they'll let you add DX to a Steam account based on having the disc. When games are reissued like this, it's usually under different licenses.
