Uhhh... Percocet & Vicodin & Tylenol Codein are all brand names for the same thing

They are all a mixture of Acetaminophen & Oxycodone hydrochloride (a form of Codein)

Patients undergoing surgery must have Acetaminophen for pain relief because Ibuproefin and Aspirin both thin your blood, which makes you bleed easier. This would be bad for your post surgical recovery.

They're not "the same thing", just because some of the narcotics are derived from codeine.

Codeine, oxycodone, and hydrocodone are not the same medications, so saying they're different names for the same thing is inaccurate.

I found that Vicodin and percodan tended to make me nauseous, while Tylenol3 doesn't.

I was told I have a mild deviated septum, after seeing all this, I don't think I'll ever be likely to try and have anything done about it. As far as I know, it's not causing any major problems for me.

regardless of the form of the codein... the point was...
they are all (Acetaminophen), being sold under a different name.
He is still taking a generic tylenol equivolent with insert choice of codein ingredient here ___________.

Uh, no. Tylenol 3 contains APAP and codeine. Percocet contains APAP and oxycodone. Vicodin contains hydrocodone. They are all opioids, yes, but oxycodone is a partially synthetic opoid while codeine is a alkaloid.

I had it done twice. Couldn't breathe out of one side of my nose. It works fine now, although I get the whole dry nose thing more often.

Holy crap. Sorry man. Sounds like you got a bum deal there.

I did however, laugh out loud at this.

I heard someone ask the nurse if she needed the analgesic lubricant and she said, "No, I'm done now." WTF? And to make matters worse, when the nurse at the hospital removed it at my request she said, "Oh my god... Why did they use such a large catheter?" Sigh...

Wow. I'm sure it wasn't funny for you though.

Sure. Funny after the fact...

I talked to my doctor (not the idiots at the surgicenter) today. 3 times my blood pressure dropped to 80/50 and my hemoglobin count was under 5. I should be around 15. She said I was close to dying and the surgicenter wouldn't release me to a hospital until their 23 hours was up. I'm so p!ssed right now.

I'm still anemic. Tingling in my fingers and toes, weakness, heart racing, etc. But I'm stable. I'm sleeping a lot... 3 hours asleep, one hour awake.

I teased my wife this morning about my $500k life insurance policy. She started crying. Oops.

Tobacco smokers are as bad as crack addicts. Geez. Smoking reduces your body's ability to heal after surgery, you know. I bet you were blowing smoke through your nose too.

"Oh my god... Why did they use such a large catheter?"

Was she commenting on the relative size to where it went in?

Yay for you being a borderline ICU patient at a surgi-center. I've seen someone like you many times at my hospital and they usually appear as death warmed over. Glad you made it out OK

Yeah, thanks. Just got home a couple hours ago from the doctor's to get all the scabs scraped off from my nose. The doctor had to tell me to stop screaming. I'm such a little girl when it comes to my nose.

(OUCH!!!!OMG!!!!!OUCH!!!!STOP!!!!!OUCH!!!ARRRGGHHHH!!!!)

I'm told the first time is the worst.

My blood pressure is still flaky, but it's staying over 110 standing or resting, so we're calling that good. Hemoglobin count is at 11. Not perfect, but still ok. No work this week though.

I'm still feeling weak but no more tingling in my fingers and toes. I should be able to drive myself by Wed. (I miss my bus!)

Dude 110 systolic is good! How old are you anyways?? My resting BP is usually ~ 105/60

Glad you are beginning to heal and a hemoglobin of 11 is nothing to worry about, you may be weak because your body isnt compensating for the lower amount but you are technically fine...

No, and the problem was made worse by the failure of the surgicenter to identify that I was bleeding.

The doctor is going to send me for a full G.I. workup. They suspect that I've had an ulcer and didn't know it. I doubt it because I haven't had any signs of anemia until this surgery, but they want to check everything out. Yes, I have acid reflux. And they knew about it.

My septum is healing nicely she said.

Yeah, my blood pressure is fine in and of itself. The problem is the range is 12 points from standing to laying down. After standing for 10 minutes I was at 122/81. Laying down for 10 minutes after the standing test I was at 110/70. I'm normally around 115 when I go to the Dr's (and at the little drug store machines as well), so they figure it's the low-ish blood count that's causing the variations.

Well that makes sense then about your BP, still lacking a little bit in circulating volume perhaps along with the lowish hemoglobin, nothing to worry about tho. Like I said glad to hear everything else is square.
