Dewalt brushless impact driver kit 205$ It can run near 300$ in stores with tax.

cpo and tyler seem to be the same company/ price now.

As an original Anadtech guy I don't post much but in thanks for those that have helped me here it is. If you know what these new tools are, they are fantastic. a guy had another brand impact driver and we all wanted one, unbelievable power and light weight. now I am trying to rebuild my house AGAIN from sandy so this time I got this coming. the tech compared to the old ones and my corded ones cant compare. the price is exceptional for the new lion 20v brushless (runs 50% longer more torque) dewalt, two batts and a charger. they got the 3 amp kit as well which maybe even a better deal but even the half pound makes a difference to my weak joints nowdays. lots of features 3 speed, 3 lights, belt and bit holder, most compact, battery guage. I watched on youtube a guy testing a similar model makita on an industrial torque tester and it broke the shaft he was using to test it...these things are strong little buggers! you may be able to use these on your auto lug nuts in addition to lag bolts and regular screws. merry xmas all.

In Home Depot's around me, they still have the Makita Brushless for $194.00. Comes with 2 3.0 batteries plus MIR for an additional one.

Lowes has a CORDLESS or but not the BRUSHLESS (new tech BL motor) kit. An easy tell is the BL on it and no visible chuck like the 18v and 20v brush motor ones If they had those for 199 id have gotten a stack. that would be an insanely great price for a retail BM store.

yeah the makita is a great deal. cant beat 3 battery package and I like the chimes and the fan on the charger.

I like the dewalt better because the grip is really comfortable, its lighter, shorter, the chuck is now inside cant scratch anything, 3 leds so no shadows, led indicator on the battery, the clip and bit holder... just all kinds of nice touches.

the best deal arguably if you don't mind a single speed is the rigid kit from home depot. its heavier, less ergonomic and basic compared to the dewalt but it is nice has a nice gauge on it and but the big thing is... they claim they will replace batteries for life.

note the rigid is not brushless so it would only run about half as long on the same amp hr battery as the dewalt or makita brushless...which is why they are so great.

I can't find this at the online website for my local Home Depot - do you have any more info how to find it online? Or maybe a model number or Home Depot reference number? I searched "Makita brushless" and no such deal came up (maybe the deal is over?).

Sure, its this one:

Its $299.00 on the website, but in my store its $194.00, and I know in other stores it was $209.00 IIRC. Makita has a MIR on their website for an extra battery. Its a clear out of their inventory I believe.

Just a newbie question:

I currently have a corded drill, and also a corded impact wrench (it has a 3/8" socket fitting, so you put sockets on it, not drill bits). They work differently and I can't use the impact wrench for screws, so I use my corded drill for screws.

But if I get one of these cordless impact drivers, could it take the place of both a drill and an impact wrench? I'm not sure how fancy these cordless tools are, never used on never bought one just got by on my corded power tools.

I guess the strength is not so much the issue, supposedly the cordless impact driver can remove lug nuts from a car etc. if you use an adapter to put a socket on it (can you?)?

But would the cordless impact driver also be able to drill into wood like a regular drill?

These might work great for my 6" ice auger, the old 1/2 " cordless drills could do quite a few holes b4 battery ran down

Sears has a 3/8" Craftsman Impact Driver for $90 right now with a standard 19v battery and charger.

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-cm-c3...1&blockType=G1

Just picked one up as a Christmas gift, $13 for a 3yr full coverage/accidental warranty so the total was like $103. Figured for a cheap basic impact driver it was a good deal, slightly better specs than the Dewalt and a larger bit size so it's more versatile. Even if its a tad lower quality or lower battery life, I can literally buy two of these with a fully covered guaranteed 6 years of use for the same price as the one Dewalt while having the advantage of a larger chuck size the whole time.

I actually played with the Dewalt and it was smaller and felt more like a toy to me...like something I would give to a kid. I had poor experiences with Dewalt drill/drivers (and the standard batteries), while I've had a Craftsman drill/driver for nearly 10 years that's seen heavy duty use/abuse and keeps on ticking (only had to get one new set of batteries that entire time...far less than was needed for the Dewalt). Not sure if my experience is unique or if it translate to their other products, but I'll find out how Craftsman does with Impact drivers now.

Just throwing this out there as an alternative. Specs suggest similar/better performance but the larger standard battery makes this one bigger/heavier and may mean a shorter run time. I think this Craftsman can run on their new litho batteries though, but I'm not 100% certain and don't know how that would change the performance/run time.

Not sure if you posted the correct link , but that is a 3/8 wrench driver. It is single speed, and a nicad. that would not even come close to a lion model and a regular lion model only lasts 50% to 67% of a brushless model. You can find heavy old nicads very very cheap. many craftsmen hand power tools are made by dewalt usually dewalt lesser models...you can find the manufacturer code and see who made your favorite power tools.

good catch on the wrong nomenclature of the "cordless" model at lowes for 199, if it really is that c2 brushless kit is the best deal anywhere I have seen.

And that makita deal is great for makita fans (lowes dosnt carry any makita in store but Home depot had some special brushless kits and the 3 3ah lion battery deal...if any are left.

honorable mention again the rigid batteries for life deal is nice see above.

merry holidaze!

That Milwaukee combo appears to be the "brush" type of motors, for both the impact driver and the hammer drill driver.

Any idea what it would cost to get that combo in a brushless version? So far I just learned about the brushless impact driver, but I didn't see any other brushless tools on their website? Is brushless so new that nobody has really started using it? Seems like a nice feature to get more power and efficiency/battery life, with smaller/lighter tool? But why can't I find any brushless drill drivers?

Brushless bumps up cost a good step.

Drills require controlled speed for general use, and not all that much torque. They are the cheapest class of power tools, so outside of pro use the last to see the most expensive technology.

Impacts are in many cases the preferred tool for putting in lots of screws or big ones like lag bolts or deck screws.

I have a cheap HF set of hex drive drill bits so I can do some limited drilling with my impact, but in general I want the control of a variable speed drill.

I have a Milwaukee one at work that I love but it will snap small bolts real fast.

Good deals on this thread.
