season 6 was a damn mess, still good, but a mess.

the start to 7 was pretty good and i'm glad they didn't make deb a complete moron.

anyone want to guess as to the role of super haxor this season? did he cancel dex's credit cards because dex called his game insulting? is dexter going to bother explaining he didn't get the ice truck killer hand from evidence?

What struck me in Dex's

confession that he snapped, and then eventually saying 'I don't know what else I can do other than apologize again' a few times, was that he didn't also confess the need for counseling and that maybe he should take some time off to 'get right' after things getting to him so much.

It's moot now because it appears he's confessed to being a serial killer, but I thought an act of 'self-reflection', albeit fake, would atleast have been part of Dex's diatribe to Deb.

If this becomes a good season, props to the writers, but being outted removed a major part of the shows foundational tension, and after the first episode, I'm not completely confident it will work.

Btw, these spoiler tags are kind of ridiculous at this point and a title update for spoilers would be great.

Just got done watching the season 7 premiere. End of the episode is a big HOLY S*** moment.

Interesting twist from the previous 6 seasons. I suspect Deb will be none the wiser about his killings during this season and Dexter will act the part to make her believe he's not killing anymore - he'll just have go be ultra careful and make up better excuses of having to be somewhere else [ie: the blond shown in the previews after the end of this episode - Dexter starts dating her and uses her as an excuse to be away from Deb so he can go kill those not worthy of living].

A lot of information in the preview after the episode make it look like there will be a lot of crap Deb/Dexter will need to cover up from Season 1 ["Ice Truck Killer" evidence/case].

Can't figure out what the strip club/international mob ties has to do with anything yet... or "mr super haxor game developer geekoid" is trying to do to Dexter [canceling his credit cards, grabbing evidence from last season, etc]...

Really looking forward to tonight's episode but not without some trepidation because they'll really have to do some amazing writing from the second episode onward...

Major props to the people behind and in front of the camera if they can pull it off though.

Didnt expect them to go this route at all... I thought Deb would just believe everything he said like an idiot

Also the truck scene at the end really felt like foreshadowing to me, especially considering Dex was talking to the guy about the whole thing just before it happened

hated jimmy smitts, lithgow was amazingly good though. Not sure if he won any awards for the part, but he certainly deserved to. One of the few characters ever that actually scared me.

lithgow and michael c. hall both won golden globes for their performances for that season.

I gave up mid way during the last season - and I'm a forgiving critic - hell I watched Lost from beginning to end....

And as much as I hate to admit it - the start of this season of Dexter has been very good.

I didn't want to see Louis killed so early...

I wanted that interaction with Dex to go a little further and Dex continue to get the better of him. He was annoying, but I thought the storyline was interesting at least.

I sort of agreed with you, but then when it happened I was happy.

Most of the interactions were just annoyances to Dexter and did not really do anything but get in the way of the bigger story. We were actually expecting Louis to grab Harrison or something, but I guess he was too much of a pussy to go that far. Now I am fine with things just progressing with the main storyline.

I'm also happy Dexter is moving back home; Deb constantly shadowing him was getting kind of annoying.

Deb is easily the most annoying character on the show. The writers must love her though because her dialogue is so easy to write:

"fuck, fuck, fuck."

Goddam Dexter."

"Fuck!"

I'm waiting to see where this season goes with Yvonne Strahovski. Is Dexter going to kill her or hook up with her? If she gets naked the entire season will be worth watching purely for that.
